A scientific symposium organized by Hadhramout University<\/strong> today recommended strengthening specialized studies on China, expanding student and academic exchange programs, and benefiting from China’s experience in sustainable development to support both the university and Yemen as a whole.<\/p>\n

The symposium, entitled \u201cSeventy Years of Yemeni-Chinese Relations: History, Strategic Partnership, and Prospects for Sustainable Development,\u201d<\/strong> was attended by Prof.Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University<\/strong>, and examined the trajectory of relations between Yemen and China since their formal establishment in 1956. Discussions focused on opportunities to enhance cooperation in higher education, scientific research, renewable energy, and investment.<\/p>\n

Held at the Ali Ahmed Ba Kathir Hall<\/strong> at Hadhramout University as part of the university\u2019s celebrations marking the 70th Anniversary of Yemeni-Chinese Relations<\/strong>, the event brought together the university\u2019s vice presidents, college deans, academics, researchers, diplomats, and students.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rizq Al-Jabri<\/strong>, Chairman of the Symposium Preparatory Committee, stated that the event represented the academic and intellectual dimension of the university\u2019s commemoration of the seventieth anniversary. He noted that the symposium aimed to provide a scholarly assessment of the evolution of Yemeni-Chinese relations and to explore their future prospects in light of contemporary international developments.<\/p>\n

The symposium\u2019s two sessions addressed the historical links between Yemen and China through the Maritime Silk Road<\/strong> and highlighted Hadhramout\u2019s role as a key center of commercial and cultural exchange between the two nations. Discussions also examined the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1956 and the subsequent development of bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

Participants further explored political, diplomatic, and economic dimensions of the partnership, including China\u2019s contribution to infrastructure projects in Yemen, as well as trade relations and cooperation in the fields of education and healthcare.<\/p>\n

The symposium also examined opportunities to benefit from China\u2019s development experience and the Belt and Road Initiative<\/strong>, with particular emphasis on future collaboration in renewable energy, higher education, scientific research, and investment.<\/p>\n

The event featured a number of scholarly papers presented by specialists in history, political science, and economics, followed by discussions and interventions from attendees, enriching the dialogue on the future of Yemeni-Chinese relations and avenues for expanding cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
