Under the patronage of Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology Faculty, the Environmental Sciences Association at Hadhramout University, in cooperation with the Socotra Wildlife Association, organized a scientific lecture on the morning of Wednesday, 17 September 2025. The lecture, titled \u201cBiodiversity in the Socotra Archipelago and Its Threats,\u201d<\/em> was presented by Engineer Nasser Abdulrahman<\/strong>, President of the Socotra Wildlife Association. He highlighted the global significance of the archipelago as one of the world\u2019s most important natural heritage sites, distinguished by its unique biodiversity. He also discussed the major threats facing the archipelago and emphasized the need to strengthen scientific and community efforts to protect it.<\/p>\n

For his part, Engineer Salem Abdulsalam Al\u2011Jumhi<\/strong>, President of the Environmental Sciences Association, affirmed the great importance of this event for students of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. He noted that Socotra is among the richest islands worldwide in terms of biodiversity, which necessitates a deeper understanding of its ecological components, existing threats, and the need for collective efforts to preserve it.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Khaled Awad Al\u2011Rubaki<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Ahmed Eidha Bin Ali Al\u2011Haj<\/strong>, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Shatha Zaki<\/strong>, faculty member and supervisor of the association; and Mr. Riyadh Abdullah<\/strong>, Monitoring Officer at the Socotra Wildlife Association, along with a number of students and faculty members.<\/p>\n
