A comprehensive solar energy system was inaugurated today at the Hadhramout University Family Medicine Center in the city of Mukalla, funded by the Kuwait-based Direct Aid Organization. The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the sustainability of healthcare services in medical facilities and to support them with alternative energy solutions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Saleh Aboud Al-Omqi, Secretary-General of the Local Authority in Hadhramout Governorate; Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University; Engineer Saleh Al-Omari, Director General of Mukalla District; and Dr. Faiza Al-Amoudi, Deputy Director of the Health Office in Coastal Hadhramout for Health and Medical Services.

The solar system installed at the center has a production capacity of approximately 45.5 kW, consisting of 64 solar panels with an output of 710 watts each. This system will ensure the continuous provision of healthcare services, particularly in light of the frequent power outages.

Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of the University, emphasized that this project represents a qualitative leap for the center, noting that it will contribute to reducing operational burdens and decreasing dependence on fuel for running generators.

For his part, Engineer Adli Baseef, Director of the Direct Aid Organization office in Hadhramout, explained that this project is part of a broader package of initiatives implemented by the organization to support the health sector with solar energy systems. These initiatives aim to improve the efficiency and continuity of medical services and reduce operational costs.

Mr. Abdulrahman Bashaeeb, Director of the Center, expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian and developmental support provided by the Direct Aid Organization. He also extended his gratitude to the local authority, the Health Office, and Direct Aid for their significant contributions, which will enhance the quality of healthcare services offered to citizens. During the inauguration, the center presented shields of appreciation to the contributing and supporting entities.
