About Facility

_

The opening of the University Hospital for Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics in 2007 as a specialized hospital in the field of  maternal and child health was a very important event for Mukalla city and neighboring governorates such as Shabwah, Al-Mahara and Socotra, due to the excellent health care provided by its distinguished medical team as well as the modern and advanced equipment.
The opening of the University Hospital (UH) was an extraordinary event for the students of the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as the Nursing faculty, as it represents a cornerstone of the requirements for the Faculty of Medicine.
Despite the financial difficulties that UH faced in the years that followed the opening, which were due to the lack of the necessary operational budget to cope with the increasing demand for health care provided by the hospital, in addition to the need of funds for the modernization and development, it did not stop the provision of more medical services and quality improvement. The cooperation between the hospital administration and the University leadership has been the key to success in overcoming many of those difficulties.
At the end of 2013, the Cardiac Catheterization Unit was joined to the University Hospital Administration. At the beginning of 2014, the Delivery Department was opened. However, in March 2016, the Delivery Department was renewed and restructured after it had been shut down in the last months of 2014 due to financial problems. Currently, the Center works very efficiently all day long.
