Dean’s Message
The University Hospital for Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics was opened in 2007 as a hospital specializing in women’s and children’s health. It was a very important event for the children of Mukalla City and neighboring governorates, who were young, skilled and fallen, as the hospital provided outstanding health care for women and children under a privileged medical cadre and modern and sophisticated equipment. It is also an exceptional event for the students of Medicine and Health Sciences Faculty, as well as for Nursing Faculty, due to the essential foundation of the Medical Faculty’s requirements.
Despite the financial difficulties encountered by the University Hospital in the years following its opening, which resulted from the lack of the operational balance necessary to cope with the increasing demand for health care provided by the Hospital, as well as the financial resources needed for modernization and development, this has not prevented further provision and improvement of the quality of medical services, as cooperation between the Hospital Administration and the University leadership has been the key to success in overcoming many of these difficulties.
At the end of 2013, the cardiac catheter unit was included in the administration of the university hospital, and at the beginning of 2014, the department opened. In March 2016, the Situation Section was modernized and restructured due to financial problems in the last months of 2014. It now operates at a high efficiency 24 hours a week.
