Description of Courses :
Advanced Research Methods
Principles of scientific research, ethics of the scientific research, general framework of scientific research and its methodologies, identification of the problem and formulation of hypotheses, data collection, design of questionnaires coding and analyzing them statistically, building qualified models, testing and measuring of hypotheses, conclusions and writing reports.
Statistical Data Analysis Applied in Finance
Collection and analysis of data through mathematical equations or graphs, identification of the problem, determination of the variables and use of statistical systems such as SPSS, MATLAB, STATA … in order to get the results and decisions.
Advanced Commercial Banking Management
This course includes a study of how to manage the Bank’s assets and liabilities. The management of the assets includes two main groups: first, Banks liquidity represented by cash and investments in securities, second, loans of all kinds. The liabilities management also includes two main groups: the first is deposits of all types and the second is capital and reserves. The course then addresses major types of risks to the management of commercial banks and, in particular, the risks of interest rate fluctuations. In addition, it introduces the other aspects of commercial banks management such as the comprehensive banks, the management of international banks, as well as the evaluation of performance in commercial banks.
Corporate Finance
This course introduces the structure of corporate finance, revenue and risk and CAPM model as a model of balance, long-term investment decisions (investment budget), in addition to the structure of finance and the relationship with the market value of the stock, the theories of the structure of finance (traditional theory, Mudklyani and Maler theory, net income approach, Durand’s net income approach). It is also introduce the cost of financing WACC, the importance of its valuation and the method of its calculation, as well as the policies of the profits distribution, the impact of each policy on the market value of the stocks, the comparison between the Mudkillani theory, the Miller and the Gordon theory on the policy of profits distribution. That is in addition to distribute profits as stocks, mergers, acquisitions and the factors influencing each of them.
Advanced Financial Markets
This course discusses the nature of financial markets , its components and roles in the local fund, its structure, how to deal in it, the role of intermediaries in creating the financial market and investment banks, as well as, the importance of information in the financial market, the nature of traded securities and its importance according to developed and developing economies, its costs and how to evaluate it. it is also introduces the risks of investing in the financial markets, the stock index, its calculation and composition, its implications for the investor and the national economy. And it discusses the financial market in terms of efficiency, the most important crises experienced by them in developed and developing countries, as well as the role of globalization in the development and integration of the financial market.
Investment Portfolios
This course includes: an explanation of the basic terms in the topic of investment and investment portfolios, study of financial markets and its influencing factors, the methods of evaluating and analyzing all types of traditional and newly innovative financial instruments through the knowledge of the valuation and analysis the stock, bonds and other types of finance instruments, in addition to the knowledge of the effects of diversification and selection of financial portfolio, as well as the study of new innovations in financial instruments and the most important options, receptors and investment companies. It is also studies the types of investment portfolios, portfolio selection in the framework of revenue and variance, the theory of Markowitz portfolio and the efficient frontier.
Banks & finance Operations
This course aims to introduce the banks, the structure and the legal environment of the banking sector, the activities and basic services provided by modern banks, the financial form of banks, the measurement and assessment of the performance of banks, management of assets and liabilities, management of investment portfolios, management of liquidity, reserves of banks and the management of bank funds.
Advanced Risk Management
This course aims to analyze the risks of companies, how it is managed and controlled, as well as, to focus on the financial, monetary and international market risks, and how to measure risk and forecasting indicators by using the qualified methodology, insurance risk, interest rate risk, gap analysis, use of derivation to manage risk of interest rate, exchange rate risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, systemic risk, risk forecasting, correlation analysis, value at risk(VaR), advanced risk management and pazzle 2.
Advanced Islamic Banks
This course studies the general principles of Islamic banking, analyzing the sources of its funds, its uses, the methods of its transformation, the relationship between the central banks and the Islamic banks, the role of Islamic banks financially, dynamically and economically with some practical examples, as well as studying some other Islamic financial institutions in terms of the nature of sources of funds and their uses and importance in the Islamic economies.
Feasibility Studies in Financial & Economic Analysis
This course includes basic concepts on the nature of investment, the nature and importance of economic feasibility studies for investment projects, methods of tradeoff between alternatives and the evaluation of projects through the criteria of measuring commercial profitability the discounted and undiscounted under the conditions of certainty and uncertainty.
Management of Information Systems
This course deals with the management information systems used in organizations and its strategic role in assisting the institutions with focus on the relationship of information systems with administrative, technical, ethical and social aspects. The course also addresses how the technical aspect is linked to the administrative requirements in a coherent system to achieve the desired objectives. It is also introduces the challenges, opportunities and risks that face the modern management due to the huge development in the field of information, its rapid exchange and expansion and how to deal with these challenges and opportunities. In addition, it shows the tools of processing and using the information in all different organizational levels, and it focuses on the steps of building and developing the modern management information systems, the related concepts and identification of the knowledge systems and their uses in the field of business administration.
Cases Studies in Finance
This course deals with the newest development in the finance and banking field. It also aims to enable students to follow up its literature and developments by supplying the specialized scientific periodicals and to provide them with the necessary research skills to prepare their academic theses and researches in the field of finance and banking.
Quantitative Analytical Methods
The course aims at providing students with the tools, methods and relationships that help them deal with and process the digital data, especially in the field of management. It includes the behavior of the random variable, the regression relationship between two or more variables, analysis and interpretation of the correlation coefficient, time series prediction, indicator testing, distribution-related tests, estimation theory, galactic estimation, and practical applications on the computer.
Financial Derivatives
This course highlights the significant role of the financial derivatives in managing the different types of risks. It includes topics like the theoretical framework for valuation of derivatives, especially options and future contracts, derivatives markets, and the different uses of derivatives in hedging and speculation.

Description of Courses :
Microeconomics :
This course deals with the definition of economy, types of economic systems, the concept of microeconomics, macroeconomics, demand and supply, law of demand, law of supply, elasticity of demand and supply, price elasticity, income, consumer behavior, marginal utility, and balance of consumer, costs, and revenue in the short term.
Macroeconomics :
This course deals with an introduction of economics, patterns of circular flow of income, measurement of macroeconomic activity, components of national income, balance of national income, multiplier theory, unemployment, inflation, financial policy, monetary policy, and international trade.
Financial Institutions:
This course gives a definition of financial institutions and its importance, functions and types of financial institutions, organization and development of banks, characteristics of banking management, capital management, asset and requirements management, financial forms of the financial institutions, and performance indicators in financial institutions.
Economics of public finance:
This course covers the general development of public finance, definition and classification of the public expenditure, methods of estimation, economic effects of public revenues (definition and types), and general budget (definition, rules, principles and types)
Commercial correspondence in English:
This course deals with writing business letters, and knowledge of commercial terms, especially in financial and banking aspects.
Mathematical Finance:
This course deals with the basic foundations of the mathematical finance, calculation methods of the simple and compound interest, the current and future values, as well as how to calculate loans.
Economics of Banking and Finance:
This course deals with the historical development of money, importance and functions of money, types of money, monetary systems, types of the monetary systems, cash and cash equivalents, money supply, as well as, monetary theory that includes: Quantitative Theory of Money (Classical), Modern quantitative Theory of demand for money (Friedman’s theory) modern Keynesian theory (Tobin Theory, modern portfolio Theory). It also introduces the types of financial markets, commercial banks, and central bank, monetary policy, its objectives and tools.
Marketing of Financial Services:
This course deals with the concept of banking marketing, factors of the banking marketing emergence, banking marketing mix and its components – the banking marketing environment and the banking information system.
Loans and Investments Management:
This course deals with the basic concepts of investment: : economic assets of the concept of investment, definition of investment, return and risk, and investment and speculation. The basic elements of the investment decision are: the types of investment decisions, the appropriate strategy for the investment decision, the foundations and principles of investment decision making, the investment and the marginal adequacy of capital, factors affecting the marginal adequacy of capital, as well as, the relationship between the marginal adequacy of capital and the size of investment, investment risks, investment fields and tools, portfolio management: portfolio definition – optimal portfolio building.
Financial analysis:
This course gives an introduction to financial analysis and its purposes financial forms and its main components, as well as, the financial analysis tools, analysis for short and long terms loans, analysis of profitability for administrative purposes and the financial raising, the factors that affect the rate of revenue and the property rights, analysis for investment purposes, profitability of stock and preparation and analysis of cash flows.
Financial and Monetary Planning:
This course covers the importance of the of the estimated cash budget, financial planning (the estimated budget), stages of preparation of the estimated cash budget, financial forms, steps that should be followed to prepare financial forms at the end of the year, management of resources and methods of resource management.
Financial and Monetary System:
This course discusses general concepts in banking legislation as: the definition of banking operations, Trade of banking operations, banking definition, banking supervision, banking law, professional legislation, rules and regulations, banking habits, characteristics of banking law, legal aspects of banking services, legal aspects of bank deposits and current account, letter of credit, letter of guarantee, credit cards, rental of iron treasuries, check. readings in the Yemeni banking legislation: the law of the Central Bank of Yemen, the law of banks, the law of Islamic banks, the law of exchange.
Bank Management:
This course deals with the strategic management in banks (concept, levels, basic foundations, stages),banking planning in banks (concept, factors influencing the planning process, setting bank targets, management policies, key rules governing the banking transactions, banking procedures, planning budgets in banks), administrative organization of banks, administrative supervision of banks, and controlling the performance of banks.
Financial Readings in English:
This course studies the financial and banking topics in English in terms of types of financial markets and their transactions, prices and types of shares and bonds, commercial banks, operations of banks, as well as some case studies of markets and banks.
International Economic Relations:
This course introduces students to the basic concepts and theories of international relations by defining the nature of this academic field, the development of its studies and branches, clarification of the nature of the international community and its components, and factors influencing it. it also reviews the nature and evolution of the international political approach, discussion of the main intellectual schools in international relations and debates among them, and review of some of the most important theories of conflict and cooperation in contemporary international relations.
Feasibility Study:
This course studies the importance of the feasibility study of projects and its scientific methodology, preliminary study, identification of investment opportunities, the general framework for the technical study of the project and the cost of production and operation, in addition to the framework of the financial and economic study and evaluation of commercial profitability of investment projects.
Financial Markets:
This course introduces the definition of financial markets, types and traded tools, the functions of financial markets and indicators of financial markets, in addition to the primary markets, secondary markets, stock markets, currency markets and derivatives, then the basic analysis, technical analysis and basis of pricing securities in the stock market, principles of measuring the efficiency of financial markets and bond prices and evaluation.
Financial and Banking Operations:
This course identifies the scientific assets and practical aspects of the operations carried out by banks, introduction in banks, then the organization and structure of the banking sector, the legal environment of the banking sector, the basic activities and services carried out by banks, the financial forms and analysis, then bank’s measurement and evaluation of the performance of banks, asset and liability management of commercial banks, the investment portfolio of banks, management of liquidity, profitability, reserves and management of sources of funds.
Islamic Banks:
The course deals with money, riba, banks, Islamic economic landmarks, contracts in Islamic jurisprudence, speculative contracts, deposits and investments in Islamic banks, sale of Murabaha, partnership in Islamic banks, and other financing and investment instruments in Islamic banks, employment and Islamic banking, and measurement and distribution of profit.
International Finance:
This course deals with an introduction of the international fund, its definition, importance, organization factors, and modern trends, balance of payments, and international financial expenditure. It also identifies the balance of payments and its types, international banks, organizational forms of international banks, international financial markets and their types, international financial deals, the current and future international financial risks, political risk, risk of currency exchanges, financial, investment and credit risks, foreign investment as a source of international fund, and definition of the foreign investment and its importance.
The study plan for the Bachelor of Banking and Finance program consists of 135 credit hours, which the student studies over eight semesters, distributed over three basic requirements indicated in the table below:

- The first number (hundreds place) indicates the academic year, where the number (1) indicates the academic year.
