Governor of Hadhramout, Commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, and Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash; HU President inaugurated the Student Dormitory Rehabilitation Project No. (1) in the university in Al-Ghalila, under the generous sponsorship of His Excellency Abd Rabbo Mansoor Hadi; President of the Republic, and funded by Silah and Al Awn foundations for Development, and the implementation of the Student care Association.
During the opening, they visited the student dorms, which includes residential rooms, and administrative offices, and contributes to alleviating the suffering of students studying at Hadhramout University who are coming from outside the city of Mukalla. They heard an explanation of the mechanism and system of housing in accordance with the university regulations of the Student Affairs Deanship at the university from the specialized engineers and those in charge of the project, as well as the absorptive capacity of the building, praising the level of achievement on the project within the framework of the university’s partnership with civil society institutions to improve the educational environment at the university.
From his part, HU President said that ”Today we are inaugurating this project that serves university students with our partners Silah and Al-Awn Foundations for Development; To provide a suitable residential educational environment for our students”. He added also that the University Presidency took the initiative in rehabilitating Building No. 2 for student dorms to lay the first building block for the university in Al-Ghalila, which is a commitment from the university to provide adequate university dorms, in the absence of government appropriations for these projects. He thanked and appreciated Silah and Al-Awn Foundations and Student Care Association for their support in developing and improving the educational environment at the university.
Mr. Ali Bashmakh; Executive Director of the Silah Foundation for Development (on behalf of the funder), said it is an honor to the university of this project since it serves students and helps them in creating the educational environment. He pointed out that Silah and Al-Awn Foundations contributed to the rehabilitation of classrooms and laboratories at Hadhramout University, and that was the outcome of a four-year partnership with the university, which was a productive partnership to serve the university students.
In addition, Eng. Waseem Rabihan, Secretary-General of the Student Care Association (the implementing agency of the project) indicated that this project has a significant impact; As it will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the students. He confirmed that the work on the project was a complete restoration and rehabilitation of Building No. 1 in cooperation with the Technical Office and the Student Affairs Deanship at the university, who provided all the necessary facilities to make the work on the dorms project succeed in a short period of time.
In conclusion, HU President, his deputy for student affairs, Prof. Salem Mubarak Al-Obathany, Prof. Salem Mohammed Bin Salman; the assistant vice president for student affairs, and Ms. Awsan Mohammed Ba Hussein; Director-General of the Ministry Office of Social Affairs & Labor – Hadhramout Coast, honored prof. Ali Bashmakh; Executive Director of the Silah Foundation for Development, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sabban; Acting Executive Director of Al-Awn Foundation for Development, and Eng. Waseem Rabihan; Secretary-General of the Student Care Association, and handing them commemorative shields, as well as honoring the project’s competent engineer, and handing him a certificate of appreciation; For their role in the success of the project to rehabilitate student dorms in the university city in Al-Ghalila.
The opening ceremonies were attended by: Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban; Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Raed Bathan; Dean of the Science College, Dr. Saeed Salmeen Belafair, Dean of the Education College in Mukalla, and a number of officials from the Silah and Al-Awn Foundations and the Student Care Association.
