The viva-voce examination on the Ph.D. dissertation of the researcher Saleh Abdallah Hasan Blfagih was held in the examination hall at the Postgraduate Studies Deputyship From The Educational Faculty. It is titled(Effectiveness of a Training Programme to Develop Virtual Experimentation Skills and Trends of Chemistry Teachers at the Secondary Level of Hadhramout Governorate).

Prof. Salem Mubarak Al-Obthani, Vice President for Students’ Affairs, Chairman and Internal Examiner( Hadhramout University ). Described the dissertation as distinct. It was characterized by good methodology and sober expression. As well as the quality of authentication and source wealth. Indicating that it comes in very precise conditions. Education in Hadhramout governorate and the country, in general, needed a modern program to train chemistry teachers in secondary schools in both government and community sectors. And the suggestions made to the researcher do not diminish the importance of the scientific thesis.

Furthermore, Prof. Omar Aboud AQilan, External Examiner(Seiyun University), commended the subject of the dissertation in terms of the sobriety of research and effort on a topic important for the educational aspect of secondary school chemistry teachers.

For his part, the supervisor of the letter, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Al-Eidrous, described the subject of the letter as a new subject, from which the governorate of Hadhramout and Yemen will benefit as a scientific research and research effort of great importance in virtual experiments and the training of chemistry teachers scientific skills to enable them to renew and innovate in the field of teaching.

At the beginning of the session,  the researcher presented a summary of the importance of the study, stating that it prompted him to take care of virtual laboratories as a complement to real laboratories. Through the researcher’s orientation visits to these secondary schools and his distribution of the virtual laboratory program in 2016, he noted that he too rarely benefited from it, This required searching for obstacles to activating the virtual lab. In the academic year 2018-2019, the researcher conducted research entitled ” Obstacles to the Use of virtual laboratories by natural science teachers at the secondary schools in the City of Mukalla. He found that the obstacles related to the teacher were considerable, and the “lack of pre-service teacher training programs from virtual laboratories” and “lack of training programs for teachers in the use of virtual laboratories” were among the most significant obstacles. Studies conducted in Yemen and virtual laboratories included: The Maameri Study (2018). and the Ben Dohman Study (2018) – the last in Hadhramout Sahel governorate specifically – recommended providing virtual laboratories and training teachers in secondary schools.

On research procedures, the researcher received extensive training in the chemical alligator program and updated the content of the program in line with the Yemeni curriculum, analyzed the content of the chemistry curriculum to identify laboratory skills, and prepared a skill scorecard based on the specification table, and a skill measurement test for 75 procedural skills required to perform virtual experiments using the chemical alligator program and the training programs, by formulating its objectives and selecting its content, appropriate training activities and methods, working papers, means and multimedia required.

He sets to the trainer’s manual with electronic files that included (52) video recordings prepared by the researcher, video files, presentations, several photos, and sketches as specific means, as well as a trainee’s manual of (201 pages), as well as a trend measurement tool, which verified the stability and honesty of the two.
