On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Scientific Society of the Chemical Engineering Department held a lecture entitled Membership of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, presented by Engineer Omar Yeslam Badukhen; winner of the Youth Champions Award for the Environment in 2017, and he is one of the graduates of the Chemical Engineering Department at the faculty of Engineering and Petroleum – Hadhramout University.
This lecture was held under the patronage of the Chemical Engineering Department, faculty of Engineering and Petroleum – Hadhramout University, and in the presence of Dr. Hisham Abdullah Bakrman; Deputy Dean for Quality Affairs and Community Service, and Dr. Ali Hassan Al-Shenaini; Head of the Chemical Engineering Department .
The head of the department welcomed Eng. Omar Badukhen and pointed out the importance of the membership in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, urging students to register and participate in this membership.
Then, Eng. Omar Badkhun presented the lecture, initiating it by introducing the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the importance of joining it.
He also displayed the Institute’s page on the projector (Data Show) about subscribing to the Institute and the steps to obtain membership, which is a free membership for all students.
At the end of his lecture, he stressed the importance of students’ participation in such institutes and associations because of their impact on students’ scientific, practical and future lives. Moreover he expressed his willingness to cooperate with those who want to register, participate and overcome all difficulties. .
In addition, Dr. Hisham Bakrman delivered a speech in which he urged students to participate and take advantage of these opportunities, which were free for them. He also stressed that the faculty supports such works that would advance the level of the faculty and the university.
In the same context, Dr. Munir Ba-Abbad; the former supervisor of the Scientific Society in the Chemical Engineering department, delivered a speech in which he urged the students to strive hard to be as a chemical engineer . He also praised the efforts of the lecturer in highlighting the role of Hadhramout University and the Chemical Engineering department in Scientific and engineering field.
It is worth noting that the chemical engineering specialization was one of the rare specializations in Yemeni universities, as it was launched along with the university’s establishment in 1996. In 2012, it became the first department at Hadhramout University which received the support from the International Bank to develop the chemical engineering program through the Higher Education Development Project according to the International Academic Accreditation standards (ABET). It was continuing to develop the quality of education in order to raise the educational and scientific level of the department in order to obtain academic accreditation.
