The Scientific Society of the Petroleum Engineering Department held on Sunday 29/11/2020 in the Conference Hall a welcome ceremony to receive the 25th batch in Petroleum Engineering Department, as well as honoring the first top students for the academic year 2019-2020 and those who had participated in the department’s local and international activities. It was held under the patronage of the Engineering and Petroleum faculty Deanship- Hadhramout University and Petroleum Engineering Department, and in the presence of Dr. Amer Badr bin Mardah; Dean of the Engineering and Petroleum faculty.
In the ceremony, which began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the head of the department, Dr. Salem Obaid Ba-Armah, welcomed the Dean of the Faculty, staff members, their assistants, and students of the department at all levels as well as the new batch. He congratulated everyone on the new academic year 2020-2021 calling on all students to be an example of diligence and perseverance.
At the conclusion of his speech, the head of the department congratulated the top of the department for the past academic year 2019-2020 for their efforts in academic achievement. This was followed by giving an overview of the electronic scientific competition that was held online in April 2020 under the patronage of the department and under the supervision of Prof. Abbas Al-Khadfi for the second and fourth levels in its morning and evening sections. It was about the Fundamentals of Petroleum Engineering, and the top students in the competition were honored.
The scientific competition held by the Scientific Society in February 2020 for the department’s students and the winners also were honored.
From his part, the head of the Scientific Society, the student / Hussein Khalid Al-Dhabi, welcomed his fellow students of the 25th batch, and congratulated them on their acceptance and admission to the faculty, calling them to success in their university career. As well as he welcomed the guests; professors and colleagues in the department. In addition, an overview about (SPE), was presented as it was the largest international association for petroleum industries, with 158,000 members around the world, and its mission is to collect, disseminate and exchange scientific knowledge, and connect all petroleum engineers to the world. The approval of the Petroleum Engineering Department under the supervision of Professor Abbas Al-Khadfi within the SPE was one of the most prominent pioneering activities of the department during the year 2020.
During the ceremony, a poem was recited by Malek Ghaylan, to welcome the new students in the department. The ceremony concluded with a presentation of the department’s international activities and participation through the IPTC International Petroleum Technology Conference that was held on 13-14/1/2020 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,. In addition to the participation of a group of outstanding department students who sought to keep abreast with development and work to show their ability in the petroleum sector and develop their skills. Students had been honored for active international participation. It is worth noting that this ceremony was part of the annual activities of the scientific society in the department.
