HU President Checks on the New Building of the Education College in Socotra Island and Meets Its Students

Prof.  Mohammed Saeed Khanbash; HU President checked on the new building of the Education College in the capital Hadiboh upon his arrival on Socotra Island. He recommended the trusteeship of the university to make the necessary repairs in the building. During the visit, the classrooms and corridors were repainted, the boards and the necessary preparations were provided from the local market on the island. At the same time, he also directed that the remaining equipment be completed and purchased from Mukalla and sent urgently.

Moreover, HU President along with Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban; Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdullah Alawi Aideed; Secretary-General of the University, and Prof. Hussein Abdullah Baslaib; General Director of the President’s Office, held an exceptional meeting with Dr. Saad Amer; Dean of the Education College in Socotra Island, in which the urgent requirements of the college were discussed to start the new academic year. In the same context, Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash met with students of the Education college in Socotra, and spoke to them about the university’s vision, university education on the island, and his intention to open a number of specializations such as: a computer and mathematics. He also expressed his thoughts on holding workshops with the Education Office and the local authority on the island to discuss the island’s needs for the scientific  specializations in the future.

The students presented the HU president with a picture of the concerns that troubled them in their scientific career, including the difficulty of transportation, university dorm, and the lack of a student services center. The university president promised to solve many difficulties and discussed some of them with the local authority in Arkhabil, Socotra. He pointed out that work will soon be done in furnishing and rehabilitating the big hall according to engineering designs that will be supervised by the university advisory office.
