The Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Hadhramout University organized a workshop entitled Building the University Internal Quality System, with the participation of the deans and their deputies, heads of scientific departments, quality committees, and staff members. In the workshop, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, HU President, confirmed that this workshop is an update of the previous workshops on quality and academic accreditation for standard-setting and the self-evaluation mechanism of Hadhramout University, noted that HU is the first university to have an internal system that submitted to the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry to create a new deputyship for quality and academic accreditation Within the framework of the partnership that took place during the past years with the Council of Quality and Academic Accreditation in Yemeni Universities. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Bugshan, Chairman of the University Trustees Board and to the center.
Dr. Abdullah Aidhah Bahshwan director of the University’s Centre for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, pointed out that the workshop aimed to formulate the internal quality system, which covered all the University activities. The system contains institutional standards for bachelor’s and postgraduate programs and noted that practices have been developed for each standard and a self-evaluation using a rubric, and said that this workshop comes within the activities and events organized by the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Hadhramout University.
The workshop discussed several themes relating to the methodology of building the internal quality system, sub-standards, practices, performance indicators, presentation of plan models, profiles, reports, mechanisms of improvement, and continuous development, as well as discussing the organizational structure, standard quality committees, responsibilities, duties, functions, and external and internal evaluation mechanisms at the university.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Salem Faraj Bamasoud, General Director of Scientific Research at the Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Deputyship, and Prof. Abdullah Alawi Aideed, General Secretary of the University.
