A field trip was held on Thursday, 21/11/2019, for third-level students to Wadi Hajar with engineers of the Geological Survey Authority, Hadhramout branch within the framework of the joint cooperation between the Engineering and Petroleum Faculty represented by the Petroleum Engineering Department, and the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority, Hadhramout Branch and within the activities of the Scientific Society of the Petroleum Engineering Department.
It was supervised by Eng. Ali Bahbri, to study the rock structures and geological rock components. During the trip, the geological column of Hadhramout governorate was identified in the Maabar area, and it was compared to the geological column of Yemen. The characteristics of each formation on the ground according to the rocky sequence were identified, and this was clarified theoretically and practically by the engineers of the Geological Survey Authority. As well as explained formations, and the extent of its relationship to the oil, and its origin within the oil-bearing rocky layers in the oil fields in Yemen and Hadhramout in particular. In addition to the different structural characteristics of the valley, and the rocky diversity that distinguishes it from other geological places. Samples of the rock formations were also taken, and the students were given a set of information and instructions by the engineers of the Authority.
