Overview

The Performance Evaluation and Academic Accreditation Unit originated as the Department of Academic Performance Evaluation and Development under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The first director of the department was Prof. Dr. Khaled Bashrahil. Recognizing the growing importance of quality assurance in higher education, the department was upgraded to the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance on October 5, 2011, by University President’s Decision No. (298) of 2011.

Performance Evaluation and Academic Accreditation Unit is responsible for undertaking the following roles and responsibilities :

  1. Promoting a culture of evaluation and academic accreditation across the university community.
  2. Establishing clear foundations, systems, standards, and models for evaluating the performance of faculty and administrative staff.
  3. Supervising self-evaluation processes.
  4. Evaluating academic programs.
  5. Assessing faculty performance.
  6. Collecting relevant statistical data, building databases, and conducting surveys and studies to gather feedback from stakeholders on the quality of education.
  7. Supporting the implementation and measurement of academic performance standards and indicators across faculties and departments, and developing tools for student learning assessment, exam regulations, academic advising systems, and performance analysis.
  8. Proposing professional development programs for faculty and teaching assistants in the areas of performance evaluation and academic accreditation.
  9. Monitoring colleges’ analysis of students’ course results and providing recommendations to enhance objectivity and accuracy.
  10. Gathering student feedback on the educational process using appropriate tools and reviewing inputs and outputs for continuous improvement.
  11. Supervising the preparation of programs for academic accreditation.
  12. Establishing a pool of experts in performance evaluation and academic accreditation.
  13. Monitoring and supporting performance evaluation and accreditation committees/units in university faculties.
  14. Preparing periodic reports and submitting them to the Center Director.
  15. Developing the annual plan, monitoring its implementation, and submitting
  16. annual reports to the Center Director

Duties and Responsibilities of the Faculty Committee for Performance Evaluation and Academic Accreditation

  1. Preparing the college to meet quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.
  2. Monitoring and reviewing annual self-evaluation reports and adherence to development plans and timelines.
  3. Continuously collecting data and information related to accreditation requirements.
  4. Supervising the self-evaluation process and preparing self-study reports.
  5. Overseeing the implementation of surveys related to the educational process and reporting results.
  6. Preparing periodic activity reports and submitting them to the college’s Quality Council.
  7. Carrying out additional tasks assigned to the committee related to performance evaluation and academic accreditation
