Overview
CESWR is one of the research centers of HU that established by the president’s decision No. (11) of 1998, and based on its interest in serving the local community and the various economic activities in the governorate of Hadhramout and neighboring governorates, this center was established to conduct research and studies related to water, environment and natural resources. Studies also include water resources, and environmental impact assessment of projects and services in the field of environmental monitoring and awareness, environmental engineering designs and participating in the development of environmental legislation, conferences, seminars and training programs.
Mission
To contribute to solving the environmental problems and developing natural resources and rationalizing them through conducting studies and research, taking advantage of the University human and material resources, and developing relations with relevant institutions at the national, regional and international levels to serve the sustainable development and community service
Vision
To be a distinguished center in research and environmental studies, conservation and development of natural resources and reduce their depletion according to the criteria of sustainable development
Objectives
- The Center aims to achieve the following general objectives:
- Actively contribute to enhancing the university’s role and achieving its goals in community service.
- Preserve wildlife and biodiversity (terrestrial and marine) and protect endemic species.
- Conduct studies and research in various environmental fields and encourage Yemeni researchers.
- Diagnose environmental problems in Yemen and propose appropriate solutions.
- Develop educational and training programs in environmental fields.
- Raise environmental awareness in society and promote environmental media.
- Establish and document an environmental information database.
