Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the impact of violence on socialization, especially violence within the family (domestic violence), and to determine the extent of the impact of mutual violence between spouses on the level of socialization. It also aims to determine the relationship of domestic violence to social and psychological adjustment within the family. The researcher adopted the use of the descriptive analytical (exploratory) method to control the course of the study and its practical steps in its theoretical and field aspects. The study sample was distributed according to gender to the total research sample of the targeted schools in the districts of Sheikh Othman, Dar Saad, and Crater. The study found that the number of females was (30) in varying proportions, representing approximately (37.5%), while the number of males was (62.5%), representing approximately (50) individuals, out of a total sample size of approximately (80) male and female students. The study reached several conclusions, including that a cultural environment in the home, characterized by love, harmony, understanding, justice, and non-discrimination between the two genders (male-female), along with parental (guardian) follow-up, guidance, advice, and counseling, continuously promotes family cohesion and the success of the sound socialization process. There is a varying relationship between domestic violence and the socialization process of the studied sample, as this variation is based on the form of violence practiced in each of the sample families. Some findings showed that there is a small, traditional form of violence, such as a fight between siblings or spouses, which ends immediately and may recur, but does not lead to destructive forms of violence like suicide or murder. Therefore, it does not affect the psychological and social development of children within the family. The researcher recommended several measures, including: parents must recognize that raising children is a great responsibility and a trust placed upon them, and they must take care of it. They should educate themselves and learn sound socialization methods to raise their children properly and build a healthy family free from psychological illnesses, violence, and aggression, as this will have repercussions on society and its various institutions. The researcher also recommended activating the role of media institutions across various channels and websites, as well as mosques and cultural forums, to highlight the dangers of the spread of violence in the family in its various forms and its destructive effects on the socialization process, the family, and society in general. Finally, the researcher recommended that relevant authorities formulate strict and clear laws to address cases of domestic violence.
