The President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khinbash, inaugurated today a computer laboratory and advanced electronic library at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences – Falaj, in a strategic step aimed at supporting the educational and research process with the latest technological tools.

On this occasion, the University President explained that this project falls ضمن a comprehensive vision to modernize the technological infrastructure across the university’s faculties and to support the trends of self-learning and scientific research.

He stated: “This investment in technology is not a luxury; it is the backbone of ensuring the quality of our educational outcomes and creating a competitive environment that aligns with the best international standards. It also represents a cornerstone in the faculty’s path toward obtaining international academic accreditation and accelerating academic development to keep pace with the rapid advancements in medical and health sciences.”

Prof. Dr. Khinbash added that the university seeks, through such projects, to bridge the digital divide and empower students and researchers across different regions. He noted that similar development models are being expanded, with a focus on providing high‑speed communication infrastructure, which has become a necessity in modern education.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Saleh Awadh Bahoul, Dean of the Faculty, along with vice deans and faculty members. The Dean emphasized the strategic nature of the project, stating: “The computer laboratory and electronic library are no longer secondary options; they have become essential for delivering high-quality medical education.”

He noted that they represent a fundamental pillar in the faculty’s plans for quality assurance and institutional and program accreditation, reflecting efforts to align academic outputs with national and international standards.

The project aims to prepare scientifically and technically qualified medical professionals by providing an interactive learning environment based on modern digital platforms, supporting students and researchers in scientific research, and enabling them to address the challenges of modern healthcare systems that rely heavily on technology and digital data.

The project included the supply and installation of 85 modern computer units distributed across the faculty buildings in Falaj and Fuwah.

To ensure reliability and efficiency, the system has been connected to high-speed satellite internet (Starlink), providing stable and strong connectivity that supports distance learning, access to global scientific databases and digital libraries, and uninterrupted research activities.

This step represents a qualitative advancement in the educational environment at the faculty, contributing to transforming classrooms into innovative spaces that align with the requirements of the digital era and enhance the university’s regional competitiveness in the field of medical education.
