The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Hadhramout University received a delegation from UNICEF on the morning of Wednesday, 28 April, as part of a visit aimed at discussing areas of cooperation and potential interventions to support the organization’s objectives and enhance the faculty’s academic and community programs.
The delegation included:

- Dr. Salem Muftah, Nutrition Specialist at UNICEF
The delegation was received by:
- Prof. Dr. Saleh Awadh Bahoul, Dean of the Faculty
- Prof. Dr. Khaled Mubarak Bin Madi, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs
- Prof. Dr. Maryam Hammam, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research
- Dr. Adnan Abdullah Bakarman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs
- Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, Vice Dean for Quality, Development, and Community Service
- Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bin Ghouth, Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Executive Director of the National Institute of Public Health
During the meeting, discussions focused on areas of cooperation, particularly in nutrition, capacity building, and support for educational and training processes, in ways that contribute to improving the faculty’s outputs and serving the local community. The participants also emphasized the faculty’s role as an active academic partner in implementing UNICEF programs through integrating updated nutrition content into certain curricula and supporting studies and research related to nutrition and public health, in line with the organization’s priorities and needs in Yemen.
This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic institutions and international organizations, to support the health sector and enhance the quality of medical education in Yemen.
The delegation also visited the University Hospital and the University Family Medicine Center to review the health and educational services provided, explore available training capacities, and discuss opportunities to support these facilities in ways that enhance the quality of services and contribute to preparing healthcare professionals in accordance with modern standards.
