The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Hadhramout University organized this morning, 21 May 2026, its 27th Scientific Seminar to discuss students’ field research projects and graduation projects, in the presence of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Saleh Awadh Bahoul, vice deans, heads of departments, and several faculty members, as well as organizing and student committees.
The seminar, dedicated to the academic year 2025–2026, was held in a spirit of knowledge and scholarly engagement, celebrating efforts shaped by determination and diligence through research and projects carrying meaningful humanitarian and societal impact beyond the classroom. The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a speech by the President of the Student Council.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Saleh Awadh Bahoul emphasized the importance of establishing scientific research as a core approach to building students’ academic and professional capacities, noting that students are active partners in generating and advancing medical knowledge. He extended special thanks to faculty members and organizing and administrative committees for their efforts in ensuring the success of the seminar. He also highlighted the faculty’s achievements in developing its educational infrastructure, including laboratories, lecture halls, and an electronic library, in addition to the ongoing preparations for academic accreditation.
The Dean noted that the seminar included discussions of 16 research proposals by second- and fourth-level students, and 20 scientific research projects by third- and fifth-level medical students, in addition to 6 graduation research projects in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program and 4 projects in Medical Laboratory Sciences, reflecting the breadth and diversity of research activity within the faculty. He also announced the allocation of awards for the best presentation and the best scientific poster.
The seminar concluded with an emphasis on continuing to support scientific research and enhance its outcomes, alongside highlighting the ongoing efforts and preparations for hosting the Fifth International Conference of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, entitled “Cancer: Current Health Reality, Challenges, and Scientific Prospects,” scheduled for 9–10 December 2026, as an additional step toward strengthening scientific communication and serving the community.
