The Inauguration of the Professional Diploma Program in Media at Open Education College


Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash, Hadhramout University President, with Mr. Fahmy Awad Badawi, Assistant Undersecretary of Hadhramout Governorate for Youth Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babaier, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Muhammad Salem Bin Jamaan, Dean of Open Education College, launched the Professional Diploma in Media for Media professionals. It is implemented by the Open Education College at Hadhramout University under the supervision of the National Committee for Women funded by the Al-Awn Development Foundation, which continues from June 26 to September 25, 2018.

At the inauguration ceremony of the program, Mr. Fahmy Badawi indicated that Hadhramout was distinguished from the rest of the governorates by establishing such important programs to develop the skills of media professionals and develop their capabilities and creativity to raise their scientific level, especially since the media today is considered as an essential partner to achieve development in society.

From his side Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash confirmed that this program is the culmination of non-traditional programs at Hadhramout University, indicating that this program contributes to developing the skills of media professionals, especially the Arabic language skill, in order to fully convey their message to society. In addition, he pointed to integrate media professionals in various educational, health and community sectors, improve and develop their professional performance in media field at Hadhramout governorate.

Ms. Solaf Al-Hanashi, representative of the National Committee for Women in Hadhramout and Mr. Abdulrahman Bin Ghanem, representative of Al-Awn Foundation, indicated that the participating media professionals will be empowered and trained in a number of linguistic and scientific skills, confirmed that the program includes a number of training courses and specific lectures in the media and its applications. They called on media professionals to get benefit from the program’s outputs by acquiring mental, professional and scientific skills that improve their performance and contribute to creating a change in society. She expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Al-Awn Foundation for its development, support and funding to the professional diploma program in media at Hadhramout governorate.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by: Dr. Khaled Al-Keldi, Deputy Dean of Open Education College , Mr. Ahmed Zain Bahmaid, General Director of the Media Public Administration, a number of faculty members at the University, Eng. Awad Bin Hamel, General Director of Mukalla City Directorate, Professor Salah Bin Jawhar, Director of the Hadhramout Satellite Channel Office and a number of directors of all offices of ministries, institutions and government agencies.
