HU President Launches A Workshop Entitled “The Mental Health of Women and Children in the Current Economic Conditions” at Women’s Faculty

A workshop entitled “The Mental Health of Women and Children in the Current Economic Conditions” was held at the Women’s Faculty Hall in the Fuwa Colleges Complex. It was organized by the Center for Human and Social Studies at Hadhramout University on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University.

During the opening session, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, pointed out that this workshop targets 30 students specializing in social work and kindergarten at the Women’s Faculty. He emphasized that these activities contribute to developing a well-rounded personality among university students, complementing what they receive in their university education. He affirmed that scientific and research centers aim to fulfill the university’s mission in education, scientific research, and community service, expressing gratitude to the deanship of the faculty for their efforts in organizing this qualitative workshop for female students.

Prof. Najah Bousbaa, Dean of Women’s Faculty, expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Center for Human and Social Studies for conducting this workshop and to the university administration for supporting the faculty. She wished the students success and excellence in their university studies.

Dr. Fathia Bahishwan, Director of the Human and Social Studies Center at Hadhramout University, stated that the workshop aims to find ways to alleviate the impact of the current economic crisis on women and children and to reduce psychological pressures. It also highlights the social problems and psychological pressure that families face, emphasizing the role of society in providing women and children with all the necessary resources for good mental health.

The workshop discussed two main topics: the first topic was “The Psychological Pressures Experienced by Mothers Due to Economic Conditions and Their Impact on Children,” presented by Dr. Arwa Abdullah Baawaidan. The second topic was “The Social Problems Faced by Families in the Current Situation and Their Impact on Girls’ Education,” presented by Dr. Amani Abdulrazzaq Baghrib.

Abdullah Omar Balkedish, the Secretary-General of the Scientific Centers at the University, attended the workshop.
