HU Celebrates International Women’s Day

On the occasion of the International Women's Day(IWD) 8 March, Hadhramout University(HU) organized both a ceremony to honor outstanding figures from the women's sector, and a workshop entitled "Women and Contemporary Reality" in the presence of Major General/ Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsni, Governor of Hadhramout and Commander of the 2nd Military Region, and Prof. Mohamad Saeed Khanbash, HU Rector.

 The Governor congratulated all women on this occasion, stressing that the local authority will pay great attention to women in Hadhramout, which has already directed all facilities, institutions and public departments to honor women because of their efforts and roles in society. He also pointed out that in the next stage, women will take leadership positions in the Governorate. The Governor ended his speech by thanking HU for organizing this ceremony.

“We are celebrating IWD in recognition of women’s role and efforts in serving the University. Our university has two colleges for women in the cities of Mukalla and Seiyun, and that makes us distinguished from the other Yemeni universities. In addition, HU has given women the opportunity to take administrative positions and enabled them to contribute to community development.” HU Rector said.

At the end of the ceremony, the Governor of Hadhramout and HU Rector honored 38 outstanding women among whom were, Dr. Najat Ahmed Bousbaa, Dean of Women’s College, Dr. Fathia Mohamed Bahashwan, Dean’s Deputy, heads of departments at the College, and a number of academic faculty staff. Then the Governor, HU Rector and their companions took a tour at the Art Education Exhibition – Women’s College / Mukalla, to see the paintings and art form of the work of students in College.
