Rafad Volunteering Team Implements an Activity for the Physically Disabled at Women’s College

Dr. Najla Abdullah Ateeq; Deputy Dean of Women’s College at HU, stated the message that is conveyed to the community throughout the establishment of this event which was implemented by the Refad volunteer team and the Social Work department in the college, in a coordination with Al-Tomooh Association in Mukalla on Thursday. The message stated that this societal category is part of our society, so we have to pay attention to them, benefit from their creativity and integrate them into society.
During the opening of the activity in the college yard yesterday, she added the exhibition event, which included a number of corners for fine arts, drawing, books, dishes and games in the presence of the association director with her students and a large gathering of mothers and college students. Moreover, she pointed out that this event is consistent with the objectives of the Social Work department and Women’s College at Hadhramout University. The exhibition witnessed a wide turnout by students and mothers.
In addition, Wedad Ahmed Al-Mashjari; team leader said that this event was an expression of the fulfillment and support for this association, which have the responsibility of helping the physically disabilities in their learning and stimulating creativity. She also added that we do not look at disability as deficit, but we look at them as an incentive for success.
After that a number of female students expressed their happiness, with success, which inaugurated another series of activities that will be held by the Rafad team and the Social Work Department at the Women’s College, Hadhramout University.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Tomooh Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Physically Handicapped -as stated in the brochures that distributed during the event – is the first association that pays attention towards Physically Handicapped rights in Hadhramout.
This association was established in 2003 according to the specialization need of the association’s members of the handicapped category to present their attitude in the society. Moreover, to facilitate their education process and motivate and support them to integrate in the society.
