The International Women’s Day

On the occasion of The International Women’s Day, which is on the eighth of March, Hadhramout University organized an honorary ceremony at Ali Ahmed Bakathir Hall to honor the distinguished women from the women’s sector and a workshop entitled (Women and Contemporary Reality) in the presence of Major General, Faraj Salmin Al-Bahsani; Hadhramout Governor, Commander of the Second Military Region, and Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash; HU President.

In the ceremony, the Governor  of Hadhramout, confirmed that the local authority pays great attention to women in Hadhramout. The local authority honored all government facilities, institutions and departments for their efforts and role in society, pointing out that the next stage will give the women a chance to assume leadership positions in the governorate, congratulating all Women in Hadhramout on this day, calling on women to raise their children in a good manner, thanking Hadhramout University for organizing this ceremony.

Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash; HU President, confirmed that the university celebrates this International Women’s Day in appreciation of women’s role and efforts in serving the university, which distinguished itself from the rest of Yemeni universities by establishing two Women’s colleges in Mukalla and Seiyun and giving them the opportunity to assume administrative positions and empowering them to contribute in community development.

At the end of the ceremony, the Governor  of Hadhramout and University President honored 38 women and gave them certificates. The College Dean, Prof.  Najat Ahmed Bousaba’a; the Deputy Dean, Dr. Fathia Mohammed Bahishwan, the heads of the departments and a number of the female administrative staff were honored. Then the governor, accompanied by the president of the university and their companions, visited the Fine Arts Exhibition – Women’s College – Mukalla. They got acquainted with the fine paintings of the students’ work in the college.

After the honoring, a workshop entitled (Women and Contemporary Reality) was held in the  Hall of Ali Ahmed Bakathir, which was organized by the Women’s Center for Studies and Research at the university. In the workshop a number of points were discussed, such as the role of women between originality and future ambition, their legitimate and legal rights. In addition, the axis of manifestations of violence against women and Obstacles to enabling women to enjoy her rights in Hadhramout. The working papers of the workshop were presented by a number of academics and specialists.
