Overview of the Islamic Studies Department

The Islamic Studies Department was established in the academic year 2000/2001 to awards the bachelor degree in Islamic Studies. It aims at qualifying the students in the field of Islamic Studies, spreading the Islamic spirit and its tolerant ideology, and adapting the approach of moderation according to the objectives and aspirations of the Yemeni community.

Vision

To be a pioneering and distinguished Department in preparing graduates who are qualified in the Sciences of Islamic Sharia, aware of the changes of time and suitable for the labor market through a comprehensive curriculum that combines the constants and developments in the field of Islamic Studies.

Mission

The Department seeks to instill the Islamic Identity, spread the Moderation Approach, and prepare specialized graduates in Islamic Sciences in order to serve the market in Yemen generally and in Hadhramout particularly through academic programs of high quality that take the scientific standards and the academic accreditation into consideration.

Objectives

  1. To instill the Islamic ideology in the students, and connect the Muslim generation with the original sources of Islam;
  2. To spread the Islamic spirit and its tolerant ideology, and to adapt the Moderation Approach according to the objectives and ambitions of the Moslem Yemeni people.
  3. To build a generation capable of keeping up with the developments and challenges of time while adhering to the values and constants of Islam.
  4. To prepare specialized graduates in the Sciences of Sharia who are well qualified to know Allah’s provisions in all matters of life in economy, society, politics and administration.
  5. To develop the role of Islamic Studies teachers in changing the youth’s behavior, protecting them from the radicalized thoughts, and helping them to overcome the intellectual and social obstacles and problems of religion dimension.
  6. To prepare qualified competencies to work in the field of calling on Islam, preaching and guidance, Hisba, religious consultations and other required fields in the community.
