Hadhramout University organized a honoring ceremony in Ali Ahmed Bakatheer Hall at the University Presidency for the excellent researchers, within the activities of the second scientific research week. It was organized by the university under the generous patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, then Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babair; Vice President for Academic Affairs, indicated that scientific research is one of the main functions undertaken by universities, and it is one of the most important indicators towards the quality of universities and the advancement of their classification at the national, regional and international levels. Therefore, Hadhramout university paid great attention to the Research and scientific publishing according to the available capabilities and with the help of its members and their belief in raising the status of this university. In addition, he noted that the university was keen on the regularity of the scientific publishing in scientific journals, and connecting these journals with regional and international scientific publishing platforms.
Hadhramout University Journal of Natural and Applied Sciences has become a member of the scientific journals platform of the Arab Universities union, while the Journal of Hadhramout University for Human Sciences obtained the Arab Impact Factor “Arsef”, in addition to establishing scientific journals for university faculties. The following refereed journals have been established so far: (Medicine and Health Science Faculty Journal, a journal in the Faculty of Education- AlMahra, a journal in the faculty of Arts, a journal in the Administrative Sciences Faculty). Furthermore, he stressed that the university has held a number of scientific conferences, symposiums and workshops on scientific research and international publication.
The university has also paid attention to the research and scientific projects carried out by the university students which aimed at raising the scientific level of the students, and enhance the research and innovation among university students. The University has approved the development of the annual HU excellent researcher award and a regulation organizing its mechanisms, calling on all researchers from all the university’s affiliates to review this regulation through the university’s electronic portal.
From his part, Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban; Acting Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, indicated that this honor comes within the framework of the Higher Education Ministry interest, and its awareness of the scientific research importance and its role in life and the advancement of societies.
The university leadership which was represented by Prof. Muhammad Saeed Khanbash; HU President provided the appropriate conditions to encourage scientific research at the university, despite the financial difficulties that Hadhramout University suffered from like other Yemeni universities. The university was able to allocate a development budget for the infrastructure, in addition to setting up stimulating prizes for researchers, and selecting joint scientific journals with research institutions and international universities.
From his part, Prof. Muhammad Hadi Al-Doh indicated in his speech on behalf of the honored researchers: ”It is an honor for us to be among this scientific constellation of honored researchers today, which is a pride for Hadhramout University and its service to the community”, sending a message to all researchers to make more effort to publish scientific research that serves Students and the community, and the continuous publication that contributes to the university’s progress locally and internationally. He called on the university’s leadership to provide researchers with all the requirements they need to represent Hadhramout University locally and internationally. Moreover, He thanked everyone who contributed in providing the necessary facilities for them to reach this success and progress in order to obtain scientific and research honors.
At the end of the ceremony, HU President, Prof. Muhammad Saeed Khanbash, Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babair; Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban; Acting Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Prof. Salem Mubarak Al-Obthani; Vice President for Student Affairs, honored the 18 excellent researchers in various fields, and handing them memorial shields and certificates of appreciation.
