A political workshop was inaugurated in Cairo entitled ” To Develop Teaching Political Science in the Arab World” between the Political Science Department at Cairo University and the Political Science Department at Hadhramout University.
At the beginning of the workshop, Prof. Ahmed Yousef Ahmed; the workshop coordinator, welcomed the attendees from Yemeni and Egyptian academics, professors of political science. He stressed the importance of this workshop through the Political Science Departments at Hadhramout and Cairo Universities, evaluating the program and presenting proposals for program development. This reflects the continuous communication between the two departments, in addition to the strong Yemeni-Egyptian relations and their historical development stages.
During the inauguration, a recorded speech was delivered by Prof. Muhammad Saeed Khanbash; President of Hadhramout University, in which he welcomed all the attendees. He thanked Sheikh Abdullah Bugshan for sponsoring and supporting this workshop, stressing the interest of Hadhramout University in the political science program and its description. In addition to developing the outcomes of this program by submitting proposals and recommendations that contribute to its development and providing outcomes that meet the needs of the labor market. The university also sought to search for partnerships and was able to achieve partnerships with Asian and Arab universities. He also stressed the importance of the partnership between Hadhramout University and Cairo University. Finally, he concluded his speech by thanking and appreciating all the attendees and those who contributed to the success of this workshop.
The Counselor Dr. Muhammad Al-Abadi; the Yemeni Cultural Attaché in Egypt, welcomed all the attendees, expressing his admiration for the efforts made by Hadhramout University and the extent of cooperation and interest on the part of Cairo University. He also conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al-Wasabi; Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and his interest in holding this workshop as well as the greetings of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, Dr. Muhammad Marem.
Furthermore, he indicated the importance of the Egyptian role in the process of Arab educational and academic development, the fact that Yemeni students graduated from Egyptian universities and assumed high positions in Yemeni universities, and that the political science program of Hadhramout University had found its goal in creating a partnership with the most prestigious Arab universities, which is Cairo University.
Prof. Muhammad Barshaid; Dean of Arts Faculty at Hadhramout University, emphasized the modernity of the program, the mechanisms of follow-up and communication, and the search for a partnership for the corresponding programs, and Hadhramout University look forward to results and recommendations from this workshop which will develop the political science program. He thanked Dr. Muhammad Al-Abadi; the Yemeni Cultural Attaché in Egypt, Dr. Muhammad Khanbash; President of Hadhramout University, and Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Bugshan for their support and eagerness to hold this workshop. Moreover, he thanked Hadhramout Foundation for Human Development, Nahd Foundation, Benevolent Fund for Outstanding Students.
From her part Prof. Shadia Fathi; Head of the Political Science Department in the Political Science and Economics Faculty at Cairo University, expressed her happiness at the cooperation between Hadhramout University and Cairo University. She also reviewed the most important elements of successful partnership and the mechanism for conducting this workshop, stressing the interest of Cairo University leadership represented by the President of the University in conducting this workshop.
Prof. Ali Al-Deen Hilal began his speech by greeting and appreciating Hadhramout University and its representatives, the Dean of Arts Faculty Prof. Muhammad Barshaid, Prof. Salah bin Medshall, all the attendees, the leadership of Hadhramout University, and to its board of trustees as well as to the Yemeni Cultural Attaché. He confirmed the importance of holding this workshop, noting that it is a true embodiment to achieve success and insistence on developing the political science program. He also reviewed his personal experience in the existence of the Arab identity, and the political relations between Arab countries in general and the Yemeni-Egyptian relations in particular. Moreover, he pointed out that there is importance in benefiting from this workshop to raise the political awareness and work to get out of the bad political situation of Arab countries as well as the need to activate mechanisms of scientific research and identify the obstacles facing Yemeni researchers.
On his side, Prof. Salah bin Medshall; Head of the Political Science Program Department at Arts Faculty- Hadhramout University, indicated that the political science program at Hadhramout University is a new program, pointing to the importance of the Political science in society. On the other hand, Dr. Warda Al-Shaeri the Yemeni student in political sciences at Cairo University emphasized the importance of building partnerships and exchanging experiences between the departments of Cairo University and Hadhramout University despite the presence of problems in Yemen that prevent the development of university programs. She pointed out her experience in studying political science, and mentioned the differences between the universities.
