The scientific symposium entitled “Fish Farming: A Step towards Food Security – Challenges and Solutions” is held as part of the activities of the 3rd Scientific Research Week at Hadhramout University at Ali Ahmed Bakatheer Hall, under the patronage of Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council.

During the opening session, Prof. Khaled Saleh Bawahedi, the conference chairman, pointed out that this conference aims to analyze the current situation of fish farming, the difficulties and obstacles it faces, and the solutions for developing this sector. It also aims to encourage investment in the fisheries sector and how to benefit from the experiences of other countries in the field of fish farming. In addition, the conference reviewed modern techniques for achieving sustainability in fish farming. Prof. Khaled Bawahedi expressed his gratitude to the participants for their role in presenting research and scientific topics in the field of fish farming, which contributes to the development of this sector in the coming period.

The conference discussed several topics, including the current situation of fish farming, the scientific and technical requirements for the development of the fish farming sector, the presentation of international experiences, and how to benefit from other relevant information. These topics were presented by experts and researchers from Hadhramout University and Malaysian and Indonesian universities.

The conference was attended by Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Al-Rubaki, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology, Dr. Salem Faraj Bamsoud, General Director of Scientific Research as well as staff members, their assistants, and students from the faculty. Also in attendance were the directors of some fishery facilities in the governorate.
