Strategic Partnerships Between Hadhramout University and Malaysian Universities

Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, and his accompanying delegation visited Malaysia. Hadhramout University has been international partnerships with several Malaysian universities for over a decade and is now seeking to strengthen these relationships.

They visited Petronas University of Technology on Monday, October 21, 2024. The university president and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Professor Shahrina Mohamed Nordin, Director of the Sustainable Building Institute , along with international relations and student affairs officials, and several staff members. Prof. Shahrina highlighted the strong relationship between the two institutions, which has led to several events, including the exchange of students to Petronas University and a collaborative research project funded by both universities.
HU President praised the excellent relationship between the two universities, which began in 2019 and has resulted in various collaborations, including the first international symposium organized by Hadhramout University with the participation of Petronas University, the exchange of five students to Petronas University for a semester, and a joint research project involving researchers from both institutions. Discussions concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration and preparations for upcoming events in 2025, including an international symposium on renewable energy featuring researchers and experts from both universities, as well as a new joint research project to be completed within two years. It’s worth noting that Petronas University ranks 269th among global universities according to the QS World University Rankings.”

On the following day, October 22nd, the university president made consecutive visits to Thermamax Sdn Bhd and MIE Industrial Solutions Sdn Bhd. During these visits, the delegation, with the assistance of specialists, explored ongoing projects related to harnessing solar energy. These projects offer a sustainable and competitive alternative energy source, both in terms of quantity and quality. The delegation was received by Dr. Wei Boon Hin, Head of the Internet and Renewable Energy Department at MIE, along with a number of engineers and company administrators. They expressed their readiness to share a wealth of expertise in the energy sector with Hadhramout.

On Thursday morning, October 24, 2024, HU President visited Multimedia University. They were welcomed by Professor Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of Multimedia University, and his deputies. The meeting attended by several specialists in student affairs and postgraduate studies, resulted in the signing of two cooperation agreements. These agreements covered a wide range of academic, research, and student-related aspects, as well as joint organization of events such as international conferences and seminars, and student and faculty exchange programs.”
At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative gifts were exchanged, and the university delegation toured some of the buildings and laboratories at Multimedia University. It is worth noting that Multimedia University ranks 351 among the world’s universities in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.

They also visited the Yemeni Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. They were warmly welcomed by His Excellency, the Yemeni Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Adel Mohammed Bahmaid, the Cultural Attaché Dr. Ahmed Al-Khudhaimi, and the embassy staff. During the meeting, the Ambassador welcomed the University President and his delegation, explaining the embassy’s role in facilitating various services for Yemeni students studying or residing in Malaysia. The university president expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and the embassy staff for their warm welcome. He also expressed his hope for further cooperation in delegating more students to Malaysia for postgraduate studies. In addition , he visited the delegated students there in Malaysia.
