Hadhramout University Participates in Training Program to Develop International Relations Offices of Yemeni Universities in Cairo

Hadhramout University took part in a specialized training program aimed at enhancing the international dimension of Yemeni higher education institutions. The program commenced on Monday in Cairo, Egypt, with the participation of several Yemeni and European universities under the YHELD Project.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Silvia Marchioni, Project Coordinator at the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), stated that this four-day program marks the first in-person meeting for project members following a series of virtual sessions.

She emphasized that the program seeks to build the capacities of Yemeni universities and enable them to play an active role in international higher education initiatives, while also keeping pace with opportunities for academic and research collaboration.

The YHELD Project is considered one of the pioneering initiatives in Yemen, involving a number of European universities and institutions, including Link Campus University – Italy, Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), School of Advanced Social Studies, Council for Accreditation of Entrepreneurial and Community Universities – Germany, and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

The project also includes participation from several Yemeni universities, such as Hadhramout, Aden, Taiz, Seiyun, Abyan, Lahj, Shabwa, and Al-Adel University.

Hadhramout University is represented in the program by:

  • Dr. Lutfi Saeed Bin Dahman – Director of the Center for International Cooperation and University Ranking
  • Dr. Suhair Ali Al-Hadhrami – Director of the International Relations Unit at the University

During the opening session, Prof. Dr. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban, Cultural Attaché at the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo, praised the efforts of Yemeni academic institutions in expanding their international partnerships despite the challenging circumstances facing the higher education sector in the country.
