Hadhramout University President Leads Delegation at Closing YHELD Conference in Cairo and Launch of Two Yemeni–European Academic Networks

The President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Mohammed Khinbash, is leading the university’s delegation participating in the final conference of the YHELD Project, currently being held in Cairo. The conference brings together partner universities from Aden, Abyan, Al-Adl, Seiyun, Lahj, Shabwa, and Taiz, along with their European counterparts, representing a major milestone in advancing higher education and international academic cooperation.

The opening session featured official remarks delivered by the Cultural Attaché at the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo, Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban; the project coordinator from Link Campus University in Italy, Mr. Andrea Damiani; and the Project Manager at UNIMED, Ms. Silvia Marchioni.
A key highlight of the conference was the signing of memoranda of understanding establishing both the Yemeni Network of International Relations Offices and the Yemeni–European Academic Cooperation Network. The signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of the eight participating Yemeni universities alongside several European partners, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening academic cooperation and expanding international partnership opportunities.
The conference emphasized that sustainable academic internationalization is built on investing in people through capacity building, fostering trust, and establishing long-term partnerships that can create lasting institutional impact beyond the lifespan of the project itself.
