HU Student Affairs Deputyship with the University of Pennsylvania launched the student program (World in Conversation) which is scheduled to last 20 talk sessions in this academic year 2021-2022 ,and  its first session with its second version via Zoom, took place on Thursday, October 21.

World in conversation is a social and cultural student dialogue program to learn about different cultures and perspectives on social life and issues, organized by the Center for Public Diplomacy and Sociology Department of the University of Pennsylvania, United States of America, in partnership with Hadhramaut University.

in this  program involves students from Sociology Department of the University of Pennsylvania with partners from various countries around the world, such as: Afghanistan, Colombia, Brazil, Iraq and Russia, and Yemen has recently been added.

HU team is the only team representing the Republic of Yemen. HU participants were selected on the basis of their qualification in the personal interview conducted by Program Coordinator Dr. Abdullah Al-Falaq, English Department of Faculty of Arts.

The 1ST session addressed the spread of ethnic restaurants in communities, the community's view of immigrants, business leaders, business clients, and the influence of migrants in the community through the services or cultures provided by arrivals.

In coordination with the Faculty of Arts and in collaboration with the Hadhramout Foundation for Human Development and HU Centre for Student Training, the Ministry of Student Affairs of the University of Hadhramout is undertaking this programme under the generous auspices of Hadhramout Foundation for Human Development, represented by its Executive Director, Prof. Tariq Belkhesher.

For his part, Prof. Mohammed Awad Parshead, Dean of Faculty of Arts, commended the efforts of English Department to carry out this creative activity and stressed the need to pay attention to the quality of performance and fluency in speaking English to students in the programme; This reflects the student culture and scientific qualification of  HU students in these exceptional situations.
