Every academic year, Hadhramout University seeks to activate events that serve students, meet their preferences, and develop their capabilities. Hadhramout University is distinguished from the rest of Yemeni universities with student activities that show its care for students, so it creates (University Awards for Student Creativity). A report on the university awards prepared by Dr. Salim Aboud Ghanem, Head of the Awards Committee indicated that The university student week was announced in 2017 in its first edition, including eleven fields, namely: memorizing the Noble Qur’an, memorizing the Prophet’s Hadith, poetry, short story, novel, painting, sculpture, calligraphy, photography, radio broadcasting, and chanting. From various faculties, students competed to participate in Hadhramout Coast and Desert, Socotra and Al-Mahra. At that time the participation reached 598 (236 male students, and 362 female students). In its second edition in 2018, it came on the occasion of the celebrations of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the university, and the participations reached more than 90%,with 683 female and male students, which reflected its success. The report went on indicating that the third edition in 2019 came with adding two qualitative awards that contribute to the participation of students in their community and the environment, namely: * The best idea award for benefiting from the student housing environment and improving its scientific and social environment. * The award for the best initiative to serve humanitarian actions to serve the community. Regarding the current fourth edition in 2020, 403 students from various faculties participate only in Hadhramaut Coast, Al-Mahra and Socotra, because students from Hadhramout Desert joined the newly established Seyun University. Every year, competent and experienced members of jury committees are selected in various fields, to seriously judge and review all works, to highlight the creative students, to choose the first three winners for each award, and to bestow titles upon them such as (the university Quran memorizer , the university hadith memorizer , the university poet, the university chanter, the university storyteller, and the university broadcaster, etc.). In fact, the university awards have a great impact on the hearts of students, because of creating motivation, communication, and creative competition among students, which are a qualitative addition to the achievements of the University represented by the Deputyship for Student Affairs . On Sunday and Monday, March 15-16, 2020, the qualification phase for the fields of memorizing the Noble Qur’an, the Prophet’s hadith, radio recitation and chanting will be held in a distinguished presence of audience in the hall of Ali Ahmed Bakatheer at the Presidency of Hadhramout University. |
