Quality Partners of University Education in Yemen: Research, Experiences, Discussion & Tying Up Loose Ends

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Prof. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, and with funding from the Al Awn Foundation, the third session of the Forum of Education Quality Partners in Yemen was held to improve education outcomes in the Faculties of Education and Qur’an, with the participation of 7 Yemeni universities in 8 governorates, in the presence of the trainer, Prof. Daoud Abdul-Malik Al-Hadabi , he said:

The Leadership training for university leadership, deans of faculties and their deputies in the universities of Hadhramout, Sayun, Aden, Taiz, Shabwa, Sheba Province, Abyan and the University of the Holy Qur’an and Islamic Sciences, aims to develop the leadership capabilities of the participants (52 participants). The difficult and successive crises facing everyone, including leaders and faculty members in universities, we are going through a severe crisis in Yemen that has negatively affected the quality of higher education, as is the case worse in public education.

Because the future of Yemen depends on the future and quality of education, and now the future of Yemen is at stake, an ambiguous future; Because the level of education is weak, and I hope that it will improve, and leaders are the means of advancement, and I hope that they will be keen to support these institutions so that they can carry out their work effectively and efficiently.

Dr. Abdullah Abdul-Qader Bin Othman, CEO of the Foundation, said: This program is one of the strategic programs in Al-Awn Foundation for Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Yemeni universities. A national project that extends over a period of five years and targets leaders of universities, faculties of education and Holy Qur’an with aim of improving the outcomes of faculties of Education and Holy Qur’an, raising the level of academic accreditation in them, and making leaders in them able to create a story of flexibility, success, positive transformation, and creativity. Positive mental image.

Dr. Abdullah Muhammad bin Thalib, the program coordinator, explained the mechanism of the program’s sessions, saying: The first meeting was via video communication technology, where the trainer did not attend with the participation of (35) participants, on the year 2020 the meeting did not excisting ; Because of the Corona pandemic, and in the year 2021 , it held periodicals in the strategic plan and financial sustainability as well on line, as the participants attended at Al-Awn Foundation, while the trainer arrived from Jordan under the auspices of the MAS International Testing Company, and this year the number of targets increased, and they are the leaders of the associations and colleges in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Aden, Taiz, Shabwa, Abyan and Marib, where the trainer, Prof. Daoud Abdul-Malik Al-Hadabi, attended, and had a great impact on the participants’ interaction and response, solving the exercises and applications, which would be positively reflected on the course outcomes, and this would have a significant and clear impact on the performance of universities.

The attendees talked about the program and the extent to which they benefited from the program, which deals with leadership skills, as well as the presence of the international trainer and benefiting from his experience. We are also grateful to the Al Awn Foundation for Development for setting up such projects to develop the quality of higher education in Yemen.
