HU Postgraduate Studies Deputyship Holds Its 3rd Meeting with Scholarship Students

As part of Hadhramout University’s commitment to monitoring its students studying abroad and recognizing the prominent role that its students play in the university, a meeting was held on Monday, via Zoom technology in the Postgraduate Studies hall at the university. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Salem Faraj Bamsoud, the General Director of Scientific Research and the Editor-in-Chief of Hadhramout University Journal of Applied and Natural Sciences, Mr. Fahd Abdullah Al-Tamimi, the Director of Scholarship Department at the Postgraduate Studies Deputyship, Ms. Ferial Basaad, the Correspondence Officer at the Postgraduate Studies Department, and Mr. Munir Al-Amoudi from the Scholarship Department.
The university president and his vice listened to the concerns, issues, and problems faced by the university’s scholarship students, which hinder their progress in their studies abroad and their achievement of academic degrees. The following are some of the problems faced by the scholarship students:
1- Delay in receiving quarterly grants for a year and a half and tuition fees for the academic year 2022/2023.
2- Students’ ability to obtain return tickets for themselves and their families.
3- Difficulties in publishing in international scientific journals as it requires financial expenses that burden the students.
4- Non-payment of printing and book allowances.
5- Master’s degree students couldn’t continue their studies.
6- Finding solutions for students whose tuition fees are incomplete.
7- Compensation for students whose studies were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
8- Facilitating and providing opportunities for the scholarship students to publish in university journals.
9- Finding solutions for students who have returned from Sudan due to the war to complete their studies and obtain their academic degrees.

Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, the President of Hadhramout University, and his vice affirmed their commitment to monitoring the university’s scholarship students and their integration into the academic community of Hadhramout University. It will contribute to building the university’s future and ensuring the development of scientific cadres that keep pace with scientific advancements worldwide.
The university leadership, represented by its president and vice, promised the students to communicate with the relevant authorities to solve these problems and obstacles.
It is worth mentioning that the scholarship students are in different countries, including Malaysia, Egypt, Jordan, France, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, the United States, India, Poland, and Sudan, as well as in Yemeni universities such as Sana’a, Aden, Ibb, Taiz, and Seiyun.

At the end of the meeting, the students expressed their gratitude to their university for this meeting and its commitment to developing higher education in the Republic of Yemen. They also expressed their readiness to actively contribute to achieving the university’s mission of academic and scientific excellence.
