HU Media Department Head Praises University’s Positive Participation in Arab World Journalism Colleges Forum

Dr. Ahmed Salmeen bin Mansour, the head of the Media Department at Hadhramout University, attended the Arab World Journalism Colleges Forum in Qatar, in which he described the university’s participation in the forum as positive and fruitful. It was organized by Al Jazeera Training Institute in Doha, in collaboration with Qatar University and UNESCO. It was an opportunity to meet with many heads of media departments from various universities, journalists from the Al Jazeera Training Center, Al Jazeera channels, newsrooms, news editing methods, and modern editing techniques. Dr. Ahmed Salmeen bin Mansour represented Hadhramout University along with Mr. Aiman Salem Zain Bahmaid, a lecturer in the department.

The forum was attended by more than 120 deans and heads of media departments in the Arab world, as well as staff members and four student participants. It will continue for three days, in which the Al Jazeera network will host the last day.

The workshops and presentations by the participants addressed topics related to the development of media curricula in faculties and proposed techniques to benefit from technology and artificial intelligence to develop media departments in universities, keeping up with the technological advancements in the world, especially in media fields such as journalism, channels, radio, and communication platforms, which now offer a wide range of diverse news stories.

Furthermore, it was agreed upon with the Director of Programs and Initiatives at the Al Jazeera Training Institute on the mechanism for the Media Department at Hadhramout University to benefit from training programs and develop the skills of staff members.

Mr. Aiman Bahmaid added that the university’s participation aims to open new paths and different methods to benefit from modern technologies, especially in a field where updates and leaps are accelerating to reach serious journalistic news and professional news editing.
