Hadhramout University Celebrates the 5th Anniversary of the Student Political Forum

The Student Affairs Deputyship at Hadhramout University, represented by the Political Forum for the university students, organized a ceremony at Ali Bakatheer Hall under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, and under the supervision of the Student Affairs Deputyship at the university. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran.

It was attended by various dignitaries, including Mr. Hassan Salem Al-Jilani, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramout, General Brigadier Mutea Al-Munhali, the General Director of Security and Police department in Hadhramout coast, a group of intellectuals, academics, political entities, and civil society organizations in the governorate. Mr. Hassan Salem Al-Jilani, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramout, conveyed greetings from the Governor of Hadhramout, Mr. Mubkhout Mubarak Bin Madi, commending the role of the Political Forum for the HU students in developing student leadership skills towards positive change in society.

Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babair, the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Hadhramout University, emphasized that the university has established several student clubs and forums to direct the youth’s energy towards serving the community and the nation, including the Political Forum for the students of Hadhramout University. He expressed his pride to this forum and all the youth who belong to it, after five years since its establishment, wishing them success.

Eng. Rashed Omar Basraih, the Head of the Political Forum, stated that the forum was a dream that has been with them since the opening of the Political Science Department at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The idea of its establishment came from a group of students in various specialties at the university to encompass all the disciplines of humanities in the faculties of Hadhramout University. He mentioned that the forum was announced in 2019 during the University Student Week, with continuous support from the university leadership and appreciative efforts from the deans of the faculties and the Department of Political Science. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all those who contributed to the establishment of the Political Forum and the administrative body, who played a significant and honorable role in the success of the forum’s programs and activities over the past five years.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Hassan Salem Al-Jilani, Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babair , Dr. Salem Mubarak Al-Obathani, the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Salem Mohammed Bin Salman, the General Supervisor of the forum, Dr. Salah bin Madashl, the Head of the Political Science Department at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Engineer Rashed Omar Basraih, honored the parties that contributed to the success of the programs and activities, presenting them with shields. They also honored individuals, satellite channels, the administrative body, founders of the forum, trainers, students, and others, presenting them with certificates in recognition and appreciation of their efforts in the programs and activities over the past five years.

The ceremony was attended by Abdullah Baiyashout, the Director General of the City of Mukalla, Ambassador Salem Ahmed Belfakih, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in Hadhramout, Brigadier General Abdul Qadir Barbaid, the Director of Political Security, Mr. Saleh bin Ajjaj, the Governor’s Advisor for Valley, Desert, and Tribes Affairs, Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, the President of the National Assembly in the Southern Transitional Council, and representatives from the General People’s Congress, Al-Islah, Al-Ittihad, and Hadhramout Conference, as well as activists and youth in Hadhramout.
