Hadhramout University was honored by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education, and Vocational Training for obtaining the second position among Yemeni universities in the QS World University Rankings 2025. This recognition was granted at a special ceremony held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education, and Vocational Training, at the University of Science and Technology in Aden.
In a special statement, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, expressed his immense satisfaction with this remarkable achievement. He emphasized that this ranking is a result of the collective efforts and commitment to developing academic and research performance at the university. He added, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the university leadership, including the vice presidents, university general secretary, staff members, teaching assistants, and students, who played a significant role in this achievement. I would also like to thank the local authority in Hadhramout Governorate for their continuous support for the university. I would like also to express my gratitude to the President and members of the Board of Trustees of Hadhramout University who were an essential part of achieving this success. We cannot forget to thank the supporting development institutions that played a major role in this success, including the Al-Awn Foundation for Development, the Hadhramout Foundation for Human Development, the Selah Foundation for Development, the Nahd Development Foundation, and the Benevolent Fund for Outstanding Students, all of which contributed to supporting academic excellence at the university.”
At this ceremony, Yemeni universities that topped the QS rankings for 2025 were honored. The University of Science and Technology obtained the first position, followed by Hadhramout University in second place, and the University of Sana’a in third place. This recognition was in appreciation of their ongoing efforts to achieve academic and research excellence.
The ceremony was distinguished by the remarkable attendance of higher education leaders, staff members, and students. Outstanding departments in the academic performance evaluation for the 2023-2024 academic year were also honored, reflecting the commitment of Yemeni universities to developing university education in various fields.
With this achievement, Hadhramout University continues its pioneering journey in achieving academic excellence at both the local and global levels, thus deserving its prestigious position in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
