Hadhramout University participated in the First International Conference titled: “Drugs and Their Impact on Youth and Society,” held in the temporary capital, Aden, from November 27 to 28, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Fathiyeh Mohammed Bahashawan, Director of the Center for Human and Social Studies, and Dr. Jassim Abdullah BouSabaa, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, represented Hadhramout University at this event, presented a research paper on the effects of drug abuse on youth, based on a field study conducted on a sample of prison inmates in the city of Mukalla, Hadhramout Governorate.
Additionally, Dr. Eman Omar Al-Lahmadi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, presented a research paper titled: “The Role of Civil Society Organizations and Official Institutions in Preventing the Spread of Drugs.”
The conference was distinguished by significant official attendance, with the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Zaouri, attending the opening ceremony.
There were extensive research presentations, with 27 scientific papers submitted by local and international researchers from countries such as Algeria, Palestine, Iraq, and the Netherlands.
