Hadhramout University President Inaugurates a Workshop on “Accreditation Standards for Academic Programs – Postgraduate Level” at the University’s Academic Development Center

The Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Hadhramout University inaugurated a workshop titled “Accreditation Standards for Academic Programs – Postgraduate Level.”

In the opening session of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, Hadhramout University President emphasized that this workshop would contribute to the proper description of academic programs at the postgraduate level. He called on the Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, along with the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, to intensify their efforts in implementing the initial steps for accreditation standards according to the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in Yemen. He also expressed the university’s readiness to provide full support to ensure the success of academic programs, announcing the Fourth Quality Week to be held in January 2025 to contribute to the evaluation of accreditation standards for postgraduate programs. He wished success and good fortune to all involved.

For his part, Prof.Dr. Salem Faraj Bamsaoud, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, stated that this workshop is part of the Vice Presidency’s plan to evaluate academic programs. He thanked the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center for their efforts in organizing and coordinating the workshop, expressing hope that the workshop would produce results and recommendations that would contribute to the development of these programs following the accreditation standards set by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in Yemen.

Following this, Dr. Salem Baawadi presented the accreditation standards for postgraduate academic programs, as outlined by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in Yemen. These standards include eight main areas with their corresponding indicators: “Mission and Objectives, Learning Outcomes, Academic Program Management, Curriculum, Learning Resources, Student Support, Faculty, Research, and Continuous Evaluation and Improvement.”

Worth noting that this workshop aims to discuss the academic accreditation standards for postgraduate programs, as specified by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in Yemen.

The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Aidha Bahashawan, Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Hadhramout University, along with several deans and faculty members from the university.
