Hadhramout University Launches the Activities of the Fourth Quality Week 2025 with Two Scientific Lectures Entitled “Challenges Facing the University and How to Overcome Them” and “12 Years of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center”

The activities of the Fourth Quality Week 2025 were inaugurated in the Ali Ba Kathir Hall at the Presidency of Hadhramout University under the theme “Quality as an Institutional Approach to Achieve Excellence and Leadership.” This event, held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, will continue from January 12 to 16, 2025.

In the opening session, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash emphasized that the Fourth Quality Week coincides with the “Year of Quality” launch at Hadhramout University 2025. He noted that the University Council, during its December 2024 session, designated 2025 as the “Year of Quality” and adopted the slogan “Quality as an Institutional Approach to Achieve Excellence and Leadership” for the year. This initiative reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to quality as a core institutional value, aligned with its mission and vision, which were the foundation for its strategic plan. Prof. Khanbash stated that the Year of Quality aims to ensure that the university’s plans and activities are based on the strategic plan launched in January 2023 to celebrate the university’s 30th anniversary. The initiative seeks to spread a quality culture among the university’s faculty, staff, and students and foster a strong sense of professional belonging among its members. The 2025 quality action plan includes several programs and projects to achieve the university’s three strategic objectives: Developing academic programs to meet local and international accreditation standards, Enhancing the competencies of the teaching staff and addressing departmental shortages to achieve excellence, and Modernizing and improving the comprehensive administrative system. The plan features four programs and eight projects aimed at developing the professional and technical capacities of teaching staff, administrative leaders, and support staff, in addition to aligning academic programs with national accreditation standards. It also includes introducing specialized academic programs to meet labor market demands, as well as workshops and lectures on topics addressing rapid scientific advancements. Additionally, criteria for awarding quality-related achievements will be announced. Prof. Khanbash expressed his gratitude to the university’s vice presidents, the secretary-general, the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, college deans, department heads, teaching staff, and all contributors to the Fourth Quality Week activities.

Following the opening, Prof. Khanbash delivered a scientific lecture titled “Challenges Facing the University and How to Overcome Them,” where he addressed various challenges confronting Hadhramout University and discussed strategies to overcome them.

Another lecture titled “The Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center: A 12-Year Journey” was presented by Prof. Abdullah Eidha Bahashawan, Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center. He reviewed the center’s achievements, its work processes, and its contributions to meeting quality standards, academic accreditation, and the professional development of teaching staff.

Notably, the Fourth Quality Week features a range of activities and events, including Quality standards in scientific research, Innovation in education, Applications of artificial intelligence in the educational process, Self-evaluation techniques, Skills for writing self-assessment studies, The gap between higher education outcomes and labor market needs, Academic regulations, Measuring and evaluating learning outcomes for programs and courses, Administrative innovation, and Requirements for implementing business intelligence at the university.

The event was attended by Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babair, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Salem Mubarak Al-Oubathani, Vice President for Student Affairs; Prof. Salem Faraj Bamassoud, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; Prof. Abdullah Eidha Bahashwan, Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center; Mr. Abdullah Alawi Eidid, Secretary-General of the University; Prof. Salem Mohamed Bin Salman, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs; college deans, their deputies, teaching staff, and students of Hadhramout University.
