Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Visits Hadhramout University

Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babair, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Acting President of Hadhramout University received today Her Excellency Ms. Janet Sieben, Ambassador Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, and her accompanying delegation. Prof. Abdullah Babair welcomed the ambassador and her delegation, providing a brief overview of Hadhramout University and highlighting the ongoing partnership between supporting institutions and organizations in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and HU in various fields, especially the Dutch project to develop the human medicine program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at HU. He also thanked them for the current support and partnership with the Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology Faculty through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regarding fish farming and its development and growth. The ambassador expressed her gratitude and happiness for the warm reception, explaining the purpose of the visit and reviewing opportunities for cooperation and partnership between the university and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Mr. Jan Peter, First Secretary for Water at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, spoke about the importance of creating new partnership opportunities with Dutch universities in the future and linking Hadhramout University with these universities to develop and enhance several sectors, most notably the water sector, and to benefit from Wadi Hajar’s significant capabilities.

Following this, the ambassador and her accompanying delegation visited the Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology Faculty to closely observe the work progress at the fish farm under construction for tilapia fish farming, its development and growth, and the possibility of its reproduction in Wadi Hajar. They were received during this visit by Prof. Khaled Awad Al-Rubaki, Faculty Dean, and several faculty members and students. The delegation expressed their happiness with the visit, the progress of work at the farm, and their review of student graduation project models.

The delegation attended the meeting during their visit to the university’s Presidency and Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology Faculty: Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Sabri, FAO office representative in Hadhramout, Mr. Mohammed Abdulkarim Bajseer from FAO, Engineer Rabee Badam from Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief (BCHR), and contractor Nimran Al-Abyad. From the university and the Faculty: Mr. Abdullah Alawi Eidid, Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Ahmed Eitha Bin Ali Al-Haj, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Academic Affairs, Dr. Wael Al-Saban, Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Ahmed Ali Balqadi, Professor of Fish Farming and the direct supervisor of the fish farm, Mr. Hussein Abdullah Basleeb, General Manager of the President’s Office, Mr. Mohammed Bashadi, Faculty Secretary, Mr. Nabil Al-Hudhaifi, Director of Laboratories at the Faculty, and several faculty members and students.
