Hadhramout University Signs Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with Hadhramout Microfinance Program

A Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed at Hadhramout University headquarters between Hadhramout University and the Hadhramout Microfinance Program. The memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Salem Mubarak Al-Obthani, Vice President of the University for Student Affairs, and Mr. Fawzi Mahfouz Bin Zaila, Executive Director of the program, in the presence of Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Saqqaf, Vice Chairman of the Program’s Board of Directors. The memorandum was endorsed by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babair, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs and Acting President of the University.

The memorandum aims to foster mutual cooperation between the two parties, particularly in supporting and financing entrepreneurial and innovative projects initiated by Hadhramout University students and graduates. It seeks to promote a culture of entrepreneurship within the university environment, enable entrepreneurs to access necessary funding to establish and expand their projects and provide training programs in entrepreneurship, financial management, and marketing. Hadhramout Microfinance Program will also be implemented under the name “Entrepreneurship and Innovation” as an initial phase, with a budget of 1.3 billion Yemeni Riyals, among other areas of mutual cooperation.

This memorandum is part of a comprehensive partnership between Hadhramout University and civil society organizations and supporting entities. It aims to contribute to the support and development of the educational and academic process in scientific research fields, as well as entrepreneurial initiatives by Hadhramout University students.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Salem Muhammad Bin Salman, Assistant Vice President of the University for Student Affairs; Dr. Saleh Omer Al-Batati, Director of the Hadhramout University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator; Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Bin Shihab, President of the Entrepreneurs Club for Hadhramout University Students; Mr. Saleh Omar Al-Attas, Secretary-General of the Entrepreneurs Club; and Mr. Omar Al-Sayili, Secretary-General of the Technical Club. From the program’s side, Mr. Hussein Omar Al-Saqqaf, a member of the Program’s Board of Directors, along with several executive directors, was also present.
