As part of its official visit to the People’s Republic of China, the high-level Yemeni academic delegation, comprising presidents of eight universities, continued its intensive program with a visit to Fudan University, one of China’s most prestigious institutions.
On behalf of the participating Yemeni university presidents, Professor Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the visit represents a “practical embodiment of the deep and renewed historical ties between the Yemeni and Chinese peoples.”
Dr. Khanbash stressed that the goal of this partnership goes beyond traditional academic exchange, aiming instead to establish “effective cooperation and strategic partnership.”

He highlighted key areas for potential collaboration between Yemeni and Chinese universities, including joint research in vital sectors such as engineering, medicine, and environmental sciences.
He also underscored the importance of developing academic programs in core scientific disciplines such as mathematics, chemistry, medicine, and engineering, and called for partnerships in technology transfer and innovation—particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
The delegation began its visit with productive meetings at Shanghai International Studies University, where the Yemeni delegation was warmly received. Dr. Mohamed Al-Ahmadi, Cultural Advisor at the Yemeni Embassy in China, described the visit as a strategic step toward expanding international partnerships and opening new horizons for academic cooperation.

Professor Dr. Al-Khader Nasser Laswar, President of Aden University, also delivered a speech on behalf of the Yemeni delegation, expressing aspirations for fruitful relations, especially in areas such as faculty and student exchange, expanded training programs, and increased scholarship opportunities.
This visit is part of a broader effort by Yemeni universities to unify their efforts in pursuit of new avenues for international collaboration. Both sides agreed to establish joint working mechanisms to implement the shared vision, including arrangements for signing memoranda of understanding and formal cooperation agreements. The Cultural Attaché is expected to follow up on these steps to ensure tangible outcomes that benefit universities in both countries.
