Governor of Hadhramout, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, presided today in the city of Mukalla over the signing ceremony of an agreement for the supply and installation of an integrated solar energy system for the central hall in the Student Affairs building at Hadhramout University. The project is funded by the Silah Foundation for Development.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, Hadhramout University President, and Mr. Ali Hassan Bashmakh, Executive Director of the Selah Foundation for Development. The project will benefit undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the administrative staff of the university.

Governor bin Madi emphasized that the project exemplifies constructive collaboration between academic institutions and development organizations. He noted that it contributes to the stability of the educational process and the provision of a modern and sustainable university environment. He further highlighted that the shift toward solar energy represents a strategic choice aligned with national efforts to adopt clean energy and reduce reliance on conventional fuel sources.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Selah Foundation to Hadhramout University in this domain, affirming that such initiatives reflect societal awareness of the importance of supporting education, scientific research, and the development of university infrastructure.

The agreement aims to strengthen the university’s infrastructure and promote the adoption of clean energy practices within educational institutions. It contributes to achieving sustainability, disseminating a culture of renewable energy, and embodying the principle of community partnership between the academic and development sectors, thereby fostering a stable educational environment that supports the national orientation toward alternative energy.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Salem Al-Awbathani, Vice President of the University for Student Affairs, along with several officials from the Selah Foundation for Development.
