This morning marks the conclusion of “Academic Development Week” at Hadhramout University with a presentation entitled “Job Description Framework for Hadhramout University” delivered by researcher Dr. Salem Ahmed Bawadi.

The closing session, chaired by the University’s Secretary-General, Mr. Abdullah Eideed, targets faculty secretaries, general directors at the Presidency, and directors of the University Hospital and Health Center.

Objectives and Key Themes of the Job Description
The presentation will address the objectives of the University’s job description update plan, focusing on revising descriptions for academic and administrative positions, filling gaps in the current guide, and amending outdated descriptions that do not align with quality requirements and approved standards issues that hinder performance development. The update process will also be linked to the University’s strategic plan.

The session will outline proposed stages and mechanisms for implementation, including forming a specialized task force, reviewing existing descriptions across the Presidency and its departments, and compiling observations into a comprehensive report to bridge gaps.

In this regard, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bahashwan, Director of the Faculty Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, told University Portal:
“This week crowns ongoing efforts and forms part of the Center’s plan to drive development and quality forward. It featured an intensive package of valuable scientific papers covering key disciplines and issues from updating academic regulations and student affairs to addressing challenges and future vision, and specialized workshops on international rankings (QS), graduate specifications, and advisory guides for learning outcomes and student support.”

He added:
“Today’s session on job description is a cornerstone in building an institutional system. It serves as a vital link connecting all outputs of the week and directly contributes to strengthening the administrative structure to support the academic and research transformation we aspire to toward third and fourth-generation universities capable of producing and marketing knowledge.”

A Week Full of Achievements
The week, held under the theme “Towards Excellence, Quality, and Building an Advanced Knowledge Society,” began with an address by University President Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, who emphasized the richness of the activities and the University’s commitment to maintaining and improving its position in international rankings such as QS.

Highlights included the President’s paper on “Future Vision,” revealing the goal of reaching the top 100 universities globally, advancing digital transformation, and addressing financial and political challenges. Workshops discussed “Updating University Regulations” with participation from vice-deans and department heads, and “Hadhramout University’s Position in QS Rankings and Improvement Mechanisms” with contributions from leading researchers.

Other sessions focused on preparing the “Learning Outcomes Assessment Guide” as a revolutionary methodology, the “Academic Advising and Psychological Support Guide” as a unified institutional framework for student support, and a workshop on “Graduate Specification Development” to standardize criteria and align them with labor market needs.

Academic Development Week served as a strategic platform for constructive dialogue and practical planning toward future-ready universities, reaffirming Hadhramout University’s determination despite all challenges to advance its journey of academic and institutional excellence.
