With Support from the European Union, President Khanbash Inaugurates the Technical Center at the Faculty of Women

Hadhramout University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khanbash, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Women, Prof. Dr. Najat Ahmed Bo-Saba’a; the Digital Economy Expert at War Child Organization, Mr. Fawzi Al-Hakimi; and the Representative of the Youth Leadership Development Foundation, Mr. Mohammed Ba’arabi, inaugurated the Technical Center for Women.

The project aims to empower women and young girls in the field of the digital economy at the Faculty of Women, with support from the European Union, through the implementing partners: War Child Organization and the Youth Leadership Development Foundation in Hadhramout. The initiative targets approximately 525 women from Mukalla, including students of Hadhramout University as well as participants from outside the university.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khanbash affirmed that the project aligns with the university’s ongoing efforts to develop students’ leadership skills and build well-rounded personalities. He noted that the initiative will significantly enhance young women’s competencies in digital economic fields, in line with the university’s seven-year plan to transition toward a unified electronic system. The University President also praised the project as a pioneering initiative serving young women and the broader community, made possible through the integrated partnership between Hadhramout University, supporting organizations, and implementing entities.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Najat expressed the Faculty’s appreciation to the university leadership and the supporting partners—War Child Organization and the Youth Leadership Development Foundation—for selecting the Faculty of Women as the primary hub for implementing this project. She wished the participating students success in their training journey.

Meanwhile, Mr. Al-Hakimi explained that the project includes training young women in several fields, including artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and other essential skills that contribute to economic development and improved living conditions for young women in Hadhramout.

In his remarks, Mr. Ba’arabi commended Hadhramout University and the Faculty of Women for facilitating all procedures related to the project as part of the active partnership between the university and its implementing partners. He emphasized that this collaboration will contribute to developing young women’s skills and empowering them economically within the digital economy.
