Speech of the President of Hadhramout University on the Occasion of the Conclusion of the First Hackathon Organized by the University.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon the Seal of the Prophets, our master Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.
Dear Vice Presidents of the University, the Secretary-General and their assistants,
Esteemed Deans of the Colleges, Directors of Centers and their deputies, and Heads of Academic Departments,
Distinguished Directors of the University’s Supporting Institutions,
Honorable Guests,
Esteemed Faculty Members and their Assistants,
Respected University Staff,
My dear students,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
We welcome you to the closing ceremony of the first Entrepreneurship Hackathon organized by the University last month—a creative milestone that marks the first event of its kind in the University’s history. This event coincided with the inauguration of the Student Entrepreneurship Support Center.
We are delighted to witness this day—the day of harvesting ideas, effort, and innovation—as we celebrate the conclusion of the University’s first Entrepreneurship Hackathon. Throughout the hackathon days, we observed how this platform transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, where ideas converged and the foundations of promising projects began to unfold. I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the creative and distinguished participants who won the hackathon awards.
At Hadhramout University, we fully recognize that our role does not end with granting academic degrees. Rather, it extends to empowering students to shape their professional futures with their own hands.
This hackathon was not merely a competition; it was a safe experimental environment designed to simulate the labor market—an opportunity to test your abilities to convert challenges into investment prospects and to turn abstract ideas into viable, applicable business models.
Esteemed attendees,
Entrepreneurship is the driving force of the modern economy and the pathway to creating—rather than waiting for—career opportunities. In your projects today, I have seen what inspires confidence: boldness in concept, practicality in solutions, and an entrepreneurial spirit unafraid of failure, but instead learning from it to reach excellence. Congratulations to you all for this high spirit and determination that brought you to this distinguished level—a beginning of a promising and prosperous future, God willing.
What comes after the hackathon?
Today’s closing ceremony marks the start of a new phase. The outstanding projects we observed will form the foundation of the activities of the Entrepreneurship Support Center. Genuine support will be provided through fully equipped, complimentary office spaces within the University’s business incubator for forty participants. You will also be connected with investors and accelerators to help transform your prototypes into emerging startups—launchpads toward real-world initiatives that benefit society.
Honorable audience,
Before concluding, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this exceptional event. In particular:
- The Office of Student Affairs
- The Entrepreneurship Center
- The Preparatory Committee
- And the dedicated individuals working behind the scenes, whose efforts ensured the organized execution of the hackathon and the preparation of an enabling environment for its activities.
Finally, we extend our thanks to all of you, esteemed attendees.
We ask Allah to grant success to everyone in all that is good.
May Hadhramout University continue to shine as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
