As part of the cultural and awareness program supervised by the Office of Student Affairs at Hadhramout University, the General Directorate of Student Activities organized two specialized lectures on “Home Gardens”, targeting male and female university students with the aim of enhancing environmental awareness and developing essential life skills.
The first lecture was held yesterday in Bawazir Hall at the Fuwa Campus and targeted students from the Faculties of Administrative Sciences, Arts, and Environmental Sciences. It was delivered by Engineer Saleh Omar Bahah, who highlighted the importance of home gardening and its role in improving indoor environments. He discussed suitable plant types for home cultivation, principles of garden design, and scientific methods of plant care, presenting the content in a simplified and practical manner.
The second lecture was held today at the Faculty of Women, with the participation of female students. Engineer Bahah delivered the same scientific content while adapting it to the needs and interests of the participants. He emphasized the importance of promoting agricultural awareness and the vital role of home gardens in enhancing quality of life.
Both lectures addressed several key topics, including the environmental benefits of home gardens, plant varieties suitable for indoor cultivation, and the importance of disseminating agricultural knowledge. The sessions also included practical explanations of garden design fundamentals and proper maintenance techniques.
The events were attended by Dr. Fatima Bahadila, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Women for Student Affairs; Dr. Abdulbasit Saeed Al-Gharabi, Chair of the University Awards Committee for Student Creativity; Mr. Zaki Baqwaequo, Director General of Student Activities; Mr. Saleh Ba’akeem, Director of Activities at the College of Arts and Sciences; and Ms. Sarah Bajri, Activities Coordinator at the College of Women.
At the conclusion of both events, the General Directorate of Student Activities expressed its sincere appreciation to the Office of Student Affairs, the participating college deanships, and all contributors to the success of this awareness program. The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration in support of activities that enrich students’ experiences and enhance their awareness across various fields.
