As part of its comprehensive developmental vision for students and based on its firm belief that creativity is a fundamental pillar alongside academic achievement Administrative Sciences Faculty at Hadhramout University is hosting this morning the inauguration of the tenth edition (the first jubilee) of the University Creative Student Awards 2026.
Dr. Abdulbasit Al-Gharabi, Chair of the Awards Committee, stated that this year’s edition aims to further refine students’ talents and provide a professional platform that genuinely reflects their creativity across various fields representing the cultural, artistic, and spiritual identity of the community. He added that the competition, held under the supervision of the university leadership—represented by the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, and the Vice President for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Salem Mubarak Al-Obathani—seeks to discover young talents, nurture creative abilities, promote a healthy and positive spirit of competition, and strengthen the link between creativity and academic excellence. The initiative also underscores the university’s role as a comprehensive incubator for knowledge and innovation.
Dr. Al-Gharabi explained that the competition includes twelve creative fields encompassing a wide spectrum of student talents. These fields include Qur’an memorization, Hadith memorization, radio broadcasting, nasheed chanting, photography, short film production, Arabic poetry, short story writing, sculpture, painting, Arabic calligraphy, and theatrical scriptwriting the latter being a newly introduced category featured for the first time in this edition.
He emphasized that the tenth edition of the competition reaffirms Hadhramout University’s ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering its creative students, with the aim of building a well-rounded generation enriched academically, culturally, and artistically. Through this initiative, the university not only offers awards but also provides meaningful opportunities for excellence and personal growth, contributing to a vibrant academic environment that enhances student life and helps shape their creative identities.
